USA considered china's arm build up as a threat, so what will US do ? build up also ? then good for ST Engg if everybody buy weapons. |

An interesting topic. It has reversed quite strongly since trading up through 100% of it's previous rise (points A-B on the chart - hope the chart has posted correctly, sorry if not!!) and then it has also retraced almost exactly 50% of it's current rise (point C upwards, then down again). No one can tell you what it will do next, but aside from any fundamental valuation (not my area), my view from a technical perspective is that it is now looking quite bearish and I think it may continue to fall in the coming weeks. If it rises up for one week but then falls back down I will be opening up a short position on this stock.. |

Yes, got some of these stocks...but bought with CPF sometime ago. Then they changed CPF ruling....reduced amount allowed for share investment....which means if I sell, cannot use the proceeds for share purchase again, So, as long as the yield is more than 2.5% of market value of the stock, better to leave it and let it ride. Of course, now yield based on my cost is much higher than the yield based on current mkt price... |

Indeed defensive, in all senses of the word :-) If I held this stock, I would have sold it these few days to buy those growth stocks which have dropped drastically to relatively better valuation. |

FY2005 div after tax is 13.96cts. 2004- 12.39cts and 2003 - 11.30cts. Some years they pay special divident or cap reduction. As you can see, div pay out increases about 1.0 to 1.5 cts each year. So, est div for FY2006 say about 15cts after tax. Based on today's mkt price of $2.90, fcst 2006 yield after tax is about 5.17%......which is quite decent. So, ST Eng is good div play......of course, the lower you pick up the stock, the better the div yield. |

Its business is stable. However valuation is on the high side, especially since recent profit has been stagnating. You may visit my blogsite (Hotstocksnot) where I have a detailed writeup on the company. |

Does anyone have any idea why ST Eng dropped so much over the last couple of days? Cannot be entirely attributable to the market selldown, right? |
