100 new Evergreen ships story resurfaces
Tokyo: Evergreen chairman Chang Yung-Fa has been in Tokyo lately and has been speaking to media there about a gigantic series of ship orders his line is planning. The Kaiji Press reports that from May Chang’s company, the largest containerline in Asia, will start negotiations with yards across the region for as many as 100 ships. Broken down, Chang’s incredible shopping list includes 32 8,000 teu ships, 20 S-types (7,024 teu), 20 U-types (5,364 teu) and 20 2,000 teu feeders. Among the yards who are in the mix are STX Offshore & Shipbuilding, CSBC Corp, Taiwan and Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS). Regular yard Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will also compete for Chang’s largesse.
This is not the first time Seatrade Asia Online has reported Chang’s century of newbuild plans. On January 6, 2009 the tycoon was reported as readying a war chest for 100 ships, something the firm later flatly denied. [09/04/10] From Seatrade Online

I very bang lah! cut lost my warrant last 2 weeks.But I recalculated and realised if i held on till now, would have make 12k. Warrants can lost big can gain big also. Cut-loss strategy does not work sometimes. Sometimes, cut but up later. |

COSCO Shipping confirms $310m order
Guangzhou: COSCO Shipping has confirmed an order of ten 27,000 dwt multi-purpose vessels from CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding. and Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding costing a total of around US$310m. The Guangzhou specialist vessel affiliate of China’s largest shipping firm said the deal is its largest order ever. The ships will start delivering from June 2011. According to its latest business plan at least another eight ships are set to be ordered as the cash rich, Shanghai-listed company takes advantage of low newbuild costs at present. [02/04/10]

Upgrade from Sell to Buy with fair value raised from S$1.03 to S$1.45 We are glad that Cosco can win a US$500m contract for an offshore marine vessel. Moreover, with oil prices fluctuating above US$80 per barrel, there is a possibility that Cosco may win more offshore marine contracts. This can mitigate the difficulties that Cosco faces in obtaining contracts for building dry bulk vessels. As we are more optimistic on the future earnings of Cosco, we have upgraded our recommendation from sell to buy and raised the fair value from S$1.03 to S$1.45. This is a change from 2.01 times to 2.80 times book value for FY2010F. |
