uncle forever! thanks for the message. me back in Sg and u are not? aiyah. so bad timing. happy easter to u too. enjoy your R&R time in M'sia. Sg-gal/uncle kiasu, me only been to india 5 times lah and all for work. not an expert in that country. Sg-gal and this is for godpa too, think india as the 60s of Sg. start w delhi (forget abt mumbai, dun thk u guys can take the dirty streets/pollution/etc there). go delhi and from there u can hire a private car/driver to agra to see taj mahal, 1 of the 7 wonders. stay 1 night there so that u can catch sunrise the next day and do shoot some beautiful fotos if u are into fotography. then after that, back to delhi and visit some of the sights like red fort, the biggest mosque (cannot rem what it's called) and the old town. if u can, spend an evening, take your dinner in the delhi old town. i'm sure u will find surprises there. if u only have abt 4-5 days, i'd suggest u go to vietnam. enter HCMC, from there go hoi an. it's declared a unesco sight. beautiful place. u won't regret. in hcmc, u can also take a day trip to Cu Chi tunnels. it's usu combined to a visit to a particular temple there. can't remember the temple name but it's damn weird. there are 4 statues displayed, namely, jesus, buddha, the indian god and confusius. i said statues coz confusius technically not a god. and coz the trip departs early in the morning, u will be able to catch the praying session in the temple where the worshippers are dressed in differ color robes due to differ ranks. LOL. it's quite funny to see actually. may i know if u do backpacking? or u prefer F&E? or guided tours? important since each type of traveling birngs differ level of comfort. but generally, the thought of gg india ain't very appealing to the mass. everyone shuddered when they knew i was gg there and what's more i was there for biz, so supposedly to stay in 5* hotels. i disagree w scotty abt the hotel std. when i was in india, either i stayed in local branded Taj hotels or Hyatt. and it ain't cheap, rates are comparable to hyatt. the service is good and attentive. there was once i stayed there for 10-days, and i was sick. lost my voice. the next thg i knew, the staff brought me a honeyed drink that was supposed to be good for the throat every morning, without me asking for it. but if u are gg on a shoe-string budget, obviously u won't be paying close to US190/nite in a 5* hotel. so, u won't get such service from a 3* or budget hotel. i suggest u visit vietnam and from HCMC, u have a lot of choices, nra trang (beach resorta), danang, hue (fantastic food, beautiful ppl), hoi an (cultural sights not to be missed), etc etc. i'm on leave today!!! yippee. happy easter everyone. |

chinkiasu, wow the trip to Swiss Alps certainly won't be inexpensive. If I remember correctly, she said 4-5 days, not too expensive.. Your idea of ChiBi sounds very interesting to me. The file ChiBi, Tony Leung was invited to be in the cast, but has declined it. He said his mandarin is good enough for the film and encouraged Takeshi Kaneshiro to take the role. |

actually, that is a great suggestion (but you need at least a week), oops I meant Sporegal to go to Swiss Alps (but not necessarily with Ipunter)... Zermatt is great with view of Matterhorn: alternatively Charmonix (Mount Blanc), French Alps or go to Austria: spent a week there once in a little town call Pertisau..by the Achensee (lake)- and then going for hikes/walking in the mountains... |

In India, you have to take a discount away at least 2 stars from what the hotels there claim. A Five-Star hotel in India is only like a Three-Staf hotel in Singapore! |

hi sporegal, sporeguy and eastonbay.. your posts about China & in particular Chi Bi has rekindled my love to revisit Changjiang and have a relook at Chi Bi this time with a more learned eye... I can volunteer to to organise the trip for next year say April if you folks are interested and we can get other forumners on board to make up a party of > 10. What say you folks? btw i just searched the net for Chi Bi and discovered that John Woo is making a film which would be released in 2008. Here is a description in Wikipedia: The Battle of Red Cliffs, otherwise known as the Battle of Chibi, (Traditional Chinese: 赤壁之戰; pinyin: chìbì zhī zhàn) was a decisive battle during the period of the Three Kingdoms in China. It took place in the winter of 208 C.E. between the allied forces of the southern warlords (Liu Bei and Sun Quan), and the northern warlord Cao Cao. Liu and Sun successfully frustrated Cao's effort to conquer the land south of the Yangtze River and reunify China. It is also distinctive for being one of the Most lethal battles in world history. Despite being one of the most famous battles of Chinese history, descriptions of the battle differ widely on details; in fact, even the place of battle is still fiercely debated. The event will be featured into a film by John Woo.

Hi Sporegal, it depends on what you are looking for... India is a big country, and very varied,,, snowcapped mountains in Kashmir, to great beaches in south India (kerala, tamil nadu) hill resorts in Ooti, semi arid jaipur, benares Ganges river, and of cos, the taj mahal... it is also a land of smells... some of them I dont like.. eg the insecticide they use in hotels...but alas, these were my impression of > ten years ago.. now they may changed perhaps my Auntie Bunnie who goes there quite a lot recently I understand, will best tell you... |

Latest quote on top $ for top guns: "And when it comes to benchmarking, MM Lee said his own annual income, which is S$2.7 million, is a fraction of what the top manager in the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) earns." So punters, investors, gamblers, SJ forumers, ah sohs, ah peks, graduates, BBs, retailers, etc, etc...are all contributing to the GLCs' big earners too when they play their shares.:) |

l_tan888 I think I have to dread very carefully here, least I say the wrong things.... I will consciously gather all the inputs needed and with the best of my ability ,knowledge, and experience , come to a conlusion and I will execute the deed/ action. If it turns out as expected, then I will be satified . If otherwise, I will knon that I had done my best and accept the outcome. (easily said then done) Sometimes we may not have all the inputs we may need and only have partial information . In that case, based on faith alone will come to a conclusion and carry on from there. Inaction is also an action. Have to take responsibilty for inaction too. What is beyond, is not in our control. The test will be " Have I done the best I could under the circumstances " I have performed my duty , wonder what the outcome will be ? |

baseerahmed, The sayings "Great minds think alike". and "Fools do not differ". are same same. I hope I can eventually trade stocks like I do in cooking. Cooking is my hobby and I always strive to perfect a dish. |
