200+ maybe. I kind of like Dow to move slow and steady, goes up too fast and furious will come drop very quickly as well. It's good news and hopefully we will have a good month of May. Can't see too far, PM Lee claimed that everything will slow down till next year 2009.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Employers trimmed jobs again in April for the fourth straight month, according to a government report Friday that was not quite as weak as Wall Street expectations. There was a net loss of 20,000 jobs in the month, according to the Labor Department report, compared to the revised loss of 81,000 jobs in the March reading. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast a loss of 75,000 jobs in April. The unemployment rate slipped to 5% from the 5.1% reading in March. Economists had been forecasting unemployment would rise to 5.2% in the latest report |

Look like it's following up on from last closing....up slightly for DOW, that my view. 6:38am: Futures little changed as investors await report that is expected to show fourth straight month of U.S. job losses. more Asian markets soar on U.S. optimism (B'cos of this reason - US optimism, Asian mkts soar)

Walt Disney's in. The DOW Xed the resistance level of 13,000. This means we are only some 1,200 points from the historical peak. Fin stocks are joining the relay. Volumes are recovering very fast too. The tide is coming in.

Jobless claims surgeA larger-than-expected spike in Americans seeking unemployment insurance comes a day before the April unemployment rate is released.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The number of newly laid off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits soared last week. The Labor Department reported Thursday that claims for unemployment benefits rose by 35,000 to 380,000. Private economists had expected claims would rise by a smaller 18,000. But the four-week moving average of new jobless claims fell 6,500 from last week to 363,750. Continued unemployment insurance claims from those already receiving benefits rose in the week ending April 19 to 3,019,000, up 74,000 from the previous week. The four-week moving average for continued claims rose by 16,750 to 2,979,000. The report on jobless claims came a day ahead of a report on unemployment for April. Economists expect that report will show that the unemployment rate edged up to 5.2% in April, from 5.1% in March. The economy is expected to lose 70,000 jobs, the fourth straight month of job losses. |
