You see... Like I said before, I relish travel videos and such more than I like being there physically. Perhaps what I will miss is the actual smell of the places! (Not that I can't 'smell' going there, but rather,as a matter of choice, and I've been to many places) |

chinkiasu : only one word to describe your travelogue : WOW ! ...mmm...that gives me an idea ... why don't u follow Sir David Attenborough's footsteps and make documentaries of his calibre , only with your angle of travels recorded .... with the current emphasis on movie making etc..I'm sure you could get fundings from even our government.....hahaha ! |

" Planet Earth " on Arts Central is one awesome documentary. Narrated by the distinct charismatic voice of distinguished icon Sir David Attenborough. Wonder if iPunter watched it on Wednesday ? Put aside the evolution debate for a while and enjoy the stunning Creatures and Creations of the Creator created by one of the ultimate Creation of the Creator ! ... Don't miss it ! |

actually, Fairygal, where you are going Hallstatt & the Salzkammergut environs are fantastic as it is: you may be packing it too much ... perhaps Gmuden where you can appreciate,Schubert and Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott..... of cos you are near Salzburg (on the way to munich) there too... hi lewsh88, agree with you Lake District in Cumbria, England is very very nice too... and of cos Llanberis around Snowdon in Wales.. along the way between the two places, stop a while in Chester...and you see a English mediaval town.. |

The Lake District in Wales is quite nice. Hire a car in London, self drive North and visit towns such as Llanberis, Windermere and Keswick. Slow and easy 6-days would be nice. In Llanberis, take old mountain railway up Snowdon mountain, at 3,560 ft, the highest mountain in England and Wales. Return trip about 2-1/2 hour. Beautiful view at the top. Stay in B & B, small guest houses. Nice filling authentic English breakfast. Eat ice cream in the village. Walk around the villages, see the lakes and hills, very relaxing. Beautiful Wales countryside. I was there end 2005. |

Will be there for more than 2 weeks in June. Hallstatt is our main destination, hiking in Dachstein. That's about 1 week. Then as we travel west towards Munich, we will hang around in quiet villages, or maybe Alpbach area. Keep those recommendations coming. |

woaa.. my fair fairygal.. now I got reputation to keep... you make me blush actually your choice of Haltstatt is an excellent one... I note it is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Hallstatt culture which was the predominant Central European culture during the local Bronze Age: for the pleasure of other forumners, I provide a pic.. btw how many days do you plan to be in Guten Abend for the moment...

baseerahmed, For me, travelling via travel agents is not the enjoyable way to travel based on my preference in travelling. I trust Chinkiasu's taste due to his liking for nature as well. He is well-travelled, so his recommendation can be a good reference. |

Chinkiasu, Read your recommendation on Pertisau. Googled on it. I was in Mayrhofen, Rauris and nearby villages a few years back. This June, I am heading to Hallstatt, then towards Tyrol. Will look for a village or two to go to before heading for Munich. Any other recommendation besides Pertisau? Danke! |

Hurdle Over Obstacles Commitment If you are merely interested in doing something, you will not be a success because the moment you encounter a difficulty, you will give up. Commitment is a heartfelt promise you make to yourself - that you will achieve to the best of your ability and giving up is not an option. Perseverence Somone once said,"If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win, buy think you can't, it is almost certain you won't. In the television series, Against All Odds, you find that those who overcome life's battles and thrive in adversity are those who think they can! A large part of success is mental, in your attitude. What hinders people from achieving their life's goals and purposes? It could be their limiting beliefs , wrong perspectives, low self esteem or negative influences. Booker T Washington said," I have learnt that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has to overcome while trying to succeed. Purpose Success should be measured by your significance, which is driven by your purpose in life. You can have all the successes in life, but if your life has no purpose, it is a tragedy. When your life has a purpose, you live with a passion. You should not sell, teach, manage, lead or do anything without finding out the reason behind what you do. If you sell a service or product that you believe is the best in the market and you want your client to have the best, you will sell with passion. End of article. If one wishes to succeed in anything, one has to try. If one is afraid to try for fear of failure, then it is hard to achieve success. Try without fear of failure and learning from the failures that come your way should help you move towards success. To tell the truth, there was a time I nearly wanted to give up on shares. But I presevered and changed investment strategy |

Hey synnexo, I think its probably due to the language barrier and maybe the culture as well. Some European cultures are pretty xenophobic. |

Ah...Singaporegal, Then u might be interested in Greece. Its capital, Athens, is one the oldest cities in the world with a recorded history of about 3000 years. One thing I like about Europe is that they have very rich culture & a very long history. I was there last year & had a really wonderful time, but the people are not very friendly as I expected. Maybe it was due to the language barrier. This year, I will be flying over to Portugal, Spain & Italy... |

Hi all, Managed to get hold of an Internet cafe. I'm addicted to SJ... can't help it. Hi iPunter, I'm not exactly a very spiritual person. I just have an intense interest in culture and history. But I still feel the same sense of awe when I visit a place that was mentioned in the history books or ancient texts like the Illiad. |

Mention of "BA Hsien Guo Hai" in the post below includes reference to the "Dao De Jing", ie. Lao Tze's work. |
