I simply love what USD yen is doing; See if it can break 105.55 level tonight. If it does, oil will drop; so will gold; DJIA is close to the peak for the day, but I wouldn't rule out a further rise to near 12668 at least to test it. | ||

I cannot agree more with this. News for the mass market is always delayed, and almost always already priced into the markets. If not, editors of economic publications would be much richer already. Price action beats news flat any time, every time.

Anyway.....
The main critical key indicator tonight will be of a speech from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke in Basel, Switzerland, on transferring risk and financial stability. The speech is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EDT.
That will be the main dish for the night and now is still covered. Once it unveiled..... We shall see the real trend for tonight.... let hope uncle Ben will talk sense and not to pull down the market thought there are higher chance that he will make the sky gloomy from his recent speech...

Stocks meander on oil, GDPWall Street seeks momentum in the early going as oil prices fall and economic growth is revised higher. The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) and the broader Standard & Poor's 500 (SPX) index were barely changed. The Nasdaq composite (COMP) added 0.3%. Stocks managed small gains Wednesday at the end of a choppy session influenced by fluctuating oil prices and questions about the economy. In the news: Oil prices slide: U.S. light crude oil for July delivery fell $2.40 to $128.63 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Crude prices fell in response to the stronger U.S. dollar, which makes dollar-traded commodities like oil more expensive for international buyers. Gas hits 22nd record high: The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas rose to a record $3.952 from the previous day's record of $3.944, AAA reported. GDP revised higher. Economic growth in the first quarter grew at a faster paced than initially thought, the government reported. GDP rose at an annualized rate of 0.9%, as expected versus the initial read of 0.6%. Core PCE, the report's inflation component, was revised to 2.1% from an initial reading of 2.2%. (Full story). Jobless claims rise. The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment rose 4,000 to 372,000 last week, topping expectations. (Full story). Retail earnings. Sears Holdings reported a quarterly loss versus a profit a year earlier on weaker revenue, missing analysts' estimates. Costco reported higher earnings that topped analysts' estimates on higher revenue that missed expectations. |

CNN Money: The U.S. economy grew at an annual 0.9% rate in the first quarter, a slightly faster pace than previously reported, according to the government's revised reading on gross domestic product. Last month it had reported an initial reading of 0.6% growth. The new reading was in line with forecasts of economists surveyed by Briefing.com. Initial jobless claims rose slightly to 372,000 last week from the previous week's reading of 368,000, which was revised slightly higher. That new reading was also roughly in line with economists forecasts. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is due to speak at 2:30 p.m. ET on the steps the central bank can take to provide cash and stability to financial markets. Fed Vice Chairman Donald Kohn is due to speak at 7 p.m. on money markets and financial stability. |
