Does anyone know why this counter rise up by 16 cents today?? Olam has not risen past the 3.18 mark for the past month and today it suddenly shoot up 16 cents..Is there a reason or is it becos the STI went up by 46 pts so everyone is buying other stocks including Olam? But the Dow is down now 130 pts at 11pm fri night spore time..Will the STI go down next week and everything will then go back to square one? Is this rise just a temporary one? Heard that the coporate earnings in US is not doing well so the Dow is down.. |

We'll see what will happen on monday, the first full day where the news that it got 90% of QCH is alread digester by the market. I was not surprised (but hoping for the best) that it barely moved out of the gates when the 90% news came out late in the session Friday. This week may provide some good news to me and my wife with regards to OLAM. Another factor going for it is the annual results of the company, if I'm not mistaken, June is its FY, and will be giving out its FY report when everybody is giving out their 2Q reports, if the results is as good, if not better than the last Q report of the company, where the stock rocketed to $4.10, we'll be seeing (finally) happy times for those vested |

OLAM is a directionless stock. Even the increase of stakes in Queensland Cotton and United Blanchers this year could'nt sustain the stock's price which has hit as high as $4.10, played around the $3.60 something and has dropped to near $3.00 twice in six months. Now even with the times that Dow Jones was hitting 50, 100 and even 150+ point rises for days in a row and the SGX hitting record highs, OLAM is in a different planet, while the market was rallying, OLAM was going south. I dread to hear the words "...the market is in consolidation", what is there to consolidate on OLAM's price?, on TA, its oversold, historically, this is a good time to buy. Even DBS, Philips and CIMB have a TP of 3.80ish on the stock, it still refuses to budge. Even with two big share placements of around 250 million shares this year to improve its liquidity, its viscosity is still compared to quick drying cement while the rest of the market is like water. Guess that's one of the prices to pay where your company isn't contract based (like Cosco, Swiber, SembMarine) or "property boom" based (Keppel Land, CapitalLand etc.). Am I being a sourgrape? maybe, a bit getting frustrated at its peformance as it has defied all trading logic, I am vested in the stock and just waiting to cut my losses, for the price to go to at least the 3.30 level. I'll take it as a learning experience and not get "OLAM-ized" again. |

The charts show that it is stagnant and bearish i think is because no one is interested to put their money into OLAM...The share price is hovering around the 3.00 plus to the 3.10+ range these past week and i knew my money will be stuck for quite some time unless the market picks up.. Just wait la...we cant do anything now if not we will suffer a loss..Time will prove everything...I believe true talent will reveal itself somehow or rather. By the way, what do you guys think about the Hang Seng Index..Read recently in the papers that a housewife won one million in paper trading just by trading warrants that track the HSI!!! I do not play warrants so wondering what are you guys thoughts about the HongKong market. I know its volatility rate is rather high. Read in the Business Times that SGX has been rated as a SELL and the HKex is rated as a BUY by UOB Kay Hian..Any thoughts out there? Kenneth |

When a company increases its stake in another company, let alone buy it, it significantly increases the value (for both parties, more or less). I wonder what's keeping investors on the back seat with regards to OLAM, concerning the Queensland acquisition, they became the third biggest cotton producer from fifth with the acquisition, that's worldwide, a Singapore company, and how does the stock react? loose nearly 30 cents in value in the next 2 weeks? I was awaiting any negative news that may be "hidden" that caused OLAM's stock price to dive, DBS rated the stock at around 3.80 because it EXPECTED it to win the Queensland war with Dreyfus, and it did. In the news today, 75% of Queensland investors has accepted the bid, it may have caused the stock to move up today from 3.04 to 3.12. Being a Friday and Wall Street being lethargic the day before, it could have been better if the timing had been on a Monday and Wall Street has just surged 100 points the previous trading day. I was in Suntec last Monday, near Tower 2, where OLAM's HQ is, I wanted to just waltz in there, ask them what is going on with your stock, get some news or something. Just decided to be prudent and wait...the same thing I've been doing for nearly a month...wait. |

Hi Gherold, The price has risen to $3.12. Hopefully it will rise next week man.. I think that time it rises up to its 52 week high of $4.10 is due to their earnings and during that time they were on the midst of taking over Queensland cotton. Maybe many people expects Olam to clinch the deal and did not expect Louis Dreyfus to counter back. But once Louis Dreyfus counter Olam offer, Olam start to dive down deeply if i am not wrong. It is news that make the stock price sensitive i would think and investor confidence too.. I did not really monitor Sembcorp marine but i did monitor Cosco Corp and i am equally amazed as you how fast it rises! On the other hand if we think on the bright side, i believe many people did miss on the opportunity or worse still try to hitch on the ride when the price has reached its peak! Now Cosco Corp is back to its peak but it did drop a vast amount after it reaches $4.00 plus. Anyway, I still have a good felling on the stock market except the market is short of volume!! tks Kenneth |

Hi Kenneth, You just breathed some "life" into me and my wife's expectations of OLAM, we really bought at the oversold state. I haven't checked if Noble Group has been suffering the same fate as OLAM's drop the past few weeks, if you look at the volume, I guess it was running around 3M+ on average, so the volume is there, OLAM isn't going bankrupt, it just put United Blanchers, Queensland cotton into its fold this year and increased their stake in another company, I think from New Zealand, there has been 2 big share placements this year totalling around 230M shares to improve the company's liquidity, all to improve its price, but the opposite has been happening. I still see a bullish stance on OLAM, don't know when they will release their next group earnings, last time they did, they rocketed to $4.10 then was pulled down by gravity and fell even harder. I have watched SembMarine, when it was still $3.60 and Cosco, when it hovering around $2.66, now has both ballooned to more than $1.50 each and has crossed the $4.00_ price, surprisingly have sustained the price while OLAM hasn't, I know its not a good comparison for companies with entirely diff industries, but you can't help but notice and feel that others struck gold, and you got left with...well, a lemon. |

Hi Guys, I am just like you all..I bought Olam at $3.20..tot that i bought it at a oversold price but the next day it drop to 3.12 and it seems that the stock is hovering around the 3.06 range these days. As what Gherold says, the stock is oversold being RSI, Williams, STOC and MACD was even at its negative when i purchase the stock. I think the volume is not there for Olam and people are not confident to put their money into Olam or rather the Singapore Stock Market. Furthermore, the market is rather mix now with the US and China markets being mixed due to the sub prime worries and interest rate issues. The takeover news of Queensland cotton did not create much of an impact to Olam share price and i am disappointed at that too. On the bright side, i believe Olam share price will pick up once the market has recovered. I think its fair value should be in the range of $3.40 to $3.60 and i am still waiting for it too. But remember to stop loss if Olam share price goes below 6 to 7% of the price that you bought. Overall, i have good sentiments of the stock and i am still waiting....Once the worldwide markets has recovered and the bull is back, i believe Olam will go up to its true value.. tks kenneth |

we bough it around the 3.40ish price, it was bouncing at 3.30 something so we thought 3.40 was safe, man are we wrong. It has happened to us twice, remember when Olam did a 100million share placement a few months back? From 3.60 dropped to 3.00 in two weeks, then surged to 4.10 a few days after that, I thought it was going to be the same pattern. I have researched on OLAM and related news, I can't seem to find any major negative news against the company yet its stock is....well....a lousy performer the past few weeks. I can't believe it has been overtaken by Cosco in terms of share price by nearly $2. Yes we intend to hold, but for how long? |

gherold.... May I know what is your average entry price for Olam? It seems to me that there are a lot of negative sentiments on this stock; probably due to the Louis Dreyfus bidding war. But dun worry. The business that Olam (and Noble as well) is doing will not diminish. In good time or bad, people still need to eat. So in that sense, the soft commodities that Olam trades will never disappear. I think you just need to hold and wait. Many think that Olam's PE is very high, but that's because they dun understand that the growth potential is also very high too. I believe with the Queensland Cotton deal, you will see Olam revenue increase by 2008... dun forget you have United Blanchers and Chinatex JV as well. I've read Poems report on Olam.... very well written and give me insights to Australian agricultural market. I like the fact that the analyst warned investors not to chase the stock. Very good of him, cos' very rare that you'll find analyst that have a BUY call and still warn pple not to chase the stock. I think his call is alright.... you just need to wait for investors to be interested in Olam again. I'm also vested in this stock... I understand the supply chain business... this Olam wont go wrong one.... I heard someone mentioned that the CEO is also a very good man... even if he's Indian..... just hold and wait for this to cheong! All the best! |

We bought OLAM at the height of its surge a few weeks back, now we are stuck. I cannot explain anymore what is happening to the stock. Del Monte (by NutriAsia) did a share placement today and they surged, Olam had the same thing last week and they plunged. DBS also has a standing target price of $3.80ish on OLAM. So why is it going south? The stock has been OVERSOLD based from RSI and Williams for a few days now and eventhough the Queensland Cotton deal has been finalised, still the stock refuses to budge and still is going down. Anybody can enlighten me on this stock? |

Has been dropping from a high of $4 (last month or so) to the low of $3.06 yesterday. Mid-day closed at $3.16. Is this a good price to go in? |

Olam has said that it would use the acquisition to expand into areas such as grain and dairy as wheat prices surged 72% in the past year and milk product prices rose to records. |
