The market is very bleak now, everyone is saying it will be like this for the next 3 years or so, possible.

My opinion is that BIG may benefit from this current suitation, raw material supply cost will be down, shipping cost will be down, but everyone still need stent if there is chokage at the arteries, this cannot be avoided, borrow, beg, steal .... it has to be done. So sales at BIG should not be affected (perhaps it may even be boosted) by current financial melt down.

I am hoping that people may see BIG in this light, unfortunately its price was washed down in this panic time! Bengster have you already 'jumped ship'? I am still holding tight to my BIG shares.

Indeed the previous rumour about something do with the 'Land of The Risisng Sun',i.e., Jap was true. BIG got some $40m  royalties from Terumo but then it doesn't quite help the share price. Sigh !!!  What to do ? The share market gone crazy, the banks gone broke, the Lehman Bros gone home and I really think we should have gone fishing in the first place.

 Alert Admin 		I share the same view here. The market is very dangerous now. Share price anytime can collapse due to vicious cycle market mechanism. We are beginning to experience something like the Great Depression except this time got a lot of Government intervention, pumping money into the system and most importantly Government guarantee all bank deposits which prevented a bank run and more collapse of banks. KNN we almost reached a state of keeping cash into biscuit tins under our bed. I don't know how some of the Government can even have the ability to make such blanket guarantees and countries/ Government can go bankrupt also. A lot of old bird investors/ businessmen have never seen anything like this before, only our grand parents truly experienced and lived thru Great Depression era as an adult. So much wealth is lost so quickly, so many people cancel orders and cut spending, unemployment going up. The real effect to the economy next year is going to be damn jialat. When property market major collapse, a lot of people going to be negative net worth. Don't bet your life in this type of market and better sell some if you need the money or cannot afford to lose the money. Safety and survival is the most important criteria now. No questions asked. Better take care of your family as the first and most important criteria.

 Alert Admin 		My personal 1 cents... now still in downward trend, haben seen a slow or U-turning leh... cash is king, so i will wait a bit until general market sentiment is stablize/up-trend then buy... so even if i buy a bit later than others (meaning i paid slightly higher price) also never mind, cos by then when i buy, i knows it's going up liao, so at most is earn slightly lesser, and not loose more... in stock can never time the market to sell highest or buy lowest... painful lesson learnt here

BIG has CE Mark (sales from Europe and AP markets), China JWMS contributions, royalties from Terumo CE markets, potential more royalties from Terumo Japan market next year, severe cost cutting measures (Singapore, USA and Europe) since several months ago, no more new clinical trials, net cash position of around US$60 to 70m. I feel BIG can ride thru this prolonged recession.

Why i said BIG is in a "fragile" position is based on market sentiment of equities market. This is refering to the state BIG's share price in this super volatile stock market, not based the fundamentals of BIG. There are huge global fund redemption from hedge funds, portfolio funds, unit trusts, yen-carry-trade unwinding, flight to safety to US Treasury bills, global margin calls, etc. All want to exit at the same time. Even top blue chips kena whacked very badly. Even companies with solid earnings and solid dividends also kena whacked. Our "next Keppel Corp" Jade is now 1.5cts, "See-No-Star" Sinostar now 6cts. 

Blue chips, pennies, etc. Im suffering from very deep losses and my losses are far more than anyone of you guys here. Money lost can make back again next time. Just make sure you survive thru this crisis and don't die in this market. The market is always right and better don't be stubborn.

I forget to add that royalty revenue from Terumo next FY will be huge. This is because NOBORI will get Japan market approval next year. Im sure BIG can survive thru this global financial crisis.

I think we have to differentiate BIG with the S-shares. I believe a lot of S-share companies here cook their books. How can some china companies report very strong earnings and not able to meet short term debt obligations? Becareful of china companies that raised even more cash after their IPO. Because they need to raise more money, they have a tendency to cook their books to churn out a beautiful set of accounting figures even after IPO. Watch out for those high debt level china companies or those that has been raising money from capital markets. Their PE is low single digit for a reason. After they raised the money, the money will be "milked" out to their bosses own pocket. How to trust a chinaman with hundreds of millions of cash?

 Alert Admin 		The Co sales have to be significant enough to cover on-going expansion, clinical trials and R & D. It would not be unreasonable for the Co to be expected to generate revenue of at least 25 mil per quarter given the size of the DES market as well as their presence both in Europe and AP. Not forgetting to mention that their product is ahead of even the top competitors. Perhaps someone could enlighten us.

This counter went up slightly when most other stocks trended downward. Hope that the 2Q FY09 result will be good, anyone has any idea when they will announce the 2Q result?
