this may well be the case with this counter..... we just got no choice but wait.. However, the fact is this counter is really value for money.. the "sifus" out there: pls correct me if I am wrong in my reasoning: assuming the EPS is a constant 0.5538, and if the PE, that I think is good for this share, is 8, i.e for every dollar invested I get a return of 12.5% pa, the price of this share should be $4.43 ex dividend. At the current price of $4.46 factoring current dividend, the price of this share should be approx $4.79. Right now if I just go for dividend play, for every $4.46 I will get 0.35 in three months i.e 32% pa (i.e assuming XD price is $4.46). If I think the ex dividend price is $4.43, then netting of the "loss of 3" cents my just dividend play will yield me about 28% pa . How not to chiong? o |

Sorry about the numbers, yes, I mean $4.46. Forget about the oil price spiking upward. It has no effect on SPC. This stubborn fellow simply refuse to move.I am not too sure I have invested on the right counter at times I think. Could it be that someone is surpressing the price low so that they can get a ride when they have uploaded their stake! Or maybe the management is buying back and deliberately have the price hang at this level? Or...I stop guessing already. I wouldn't be excited anymore if the oil price is up or the Oyong well is running, etc. All I know is that I am going to sit tight and wait for $350 a lot at May! |

I didnt do anything wrong leh... I think it wasn't clear with the paragraphs with the CAPITALs to some. I am fond of using it as you probably know by now since you caught it. So for flowergal, capital letters isnt mandatory in the stock market. :p |

Giantlow, I am probably going to be one of the few riding out the storm -> 'people dumping at XD' and enjoy the calm after the storm. :) High Dividend Yield is one of my criteria for stock selection. Safety net you may call it. :) |

OR is a conjunction is a sentence. E.g. Do you like this 'or' that? XD as we know it to be Ex-Dividend. Means without Dividend. |

Oil Rises a Second Day on Forecast U.S. Heating Fuel Demand By Gavin Evans and Shigeru Sato Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil rose a second day in New York on speculation a late-winter cold snap in the U.S. Northeast will increase heating fuel use. Heating demand in New York City will be 42 percent above normal in the week ended Feb. 10, forecaster Meteorlogix LLC said yesterday. Temperatures in the Northeast, which accounts for 80 percent of U.S. heating oil use, may be below normal through Feb. 18, the National Weather Service said Feb. 4. ``Oil reacted to cold snaps in the U.S. Northeast,'' said Yusuke Seta, an analyst at the international division at commodity futures broker Himawari CX Inc. in Tokyo. ``The market might be over-reacting because the winter heating oil demand season is coming to an end in the weeks ahead.'' Crude oil for March delivery rose as much as 34 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $59.36 a barrel in after-hours electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract traded at $59.09 at 11:55 a.m. in Tokyo. The contract rose $1.72, or 3 percent, to $59.02 on Feb. 2, the highest close since Dec. 29. Prices surged about $1.30 a barrel in the last 45 minutes of trading after prices reached $58 a barrel and BP Plc and Tesoro Corp. reported leaks at refineries in Texas and California respectively. In London, Brent crude oil for March settlement was at $58.55 a barrel, up 14 cents, in electronic trading on the ICE Futures exchange at 8:21 a.m. Singapore time. extracted from Bloomberg report |

giantlow, the simple answer is that the big players don't think it's worth that much? Kilroy, don't send them into a panic leh. and heh. actually, i sold my spc last week alr. not 'cos i don't believe it has upside potential, but i need to consolidate cash. flowergal (pretty name!): XD is ex-dividend; aka dividend paid out. that's in May for SPC. and em, OR is just or. he was stressing the word..... |

What if SPC is under M&A? Will the share price go up to $7.00? If so, I am going load up more tomorrow. At this price of $4.36, I think it's a steal. With $350 a lot for dividens, what is there to worry? I am vested! |
