Shorting any counter before the expiry date & failure to cover one's short position by 5pm on the ex date will render the short-seller liable for the equal sum of dividend to be issued (to investors on long positions). ie. If your short position on ocbc  lapses over ex date,  your cfd provider will auto deduct the  dividend amount from your cfd a/c in the next  few working days. Those trading on cash  a/c,  coporate  dividend payout will be issued  according to  the date stated on sgx's website.  Sembcorp marine's  dividend is  much more than ocbc,  you need to  manage your  short trade well.    Don't say i never tell u
