Don't think there are any nuclear equipment manufacturers in SGX. Most nuclear construction in the last 20 years has been in Japan and a little in Taiwan and Europe. Hitachi is probably the biggest player though in the last 2 years, some Korean consortiums have clinched nuclear deals in the Middle East. Other players are Alstom fr France, and some US companies. Margins from nuclear equipment manufacturers may not be that great anyway because the project risk involved is so high. Cost overruns, insurance and accident costs can run into billions while it may take over a decade for investors to get positive ROI. Safer to look for companies who fabricate big metal pieces for equipment used in nuclear and other power plants. Long queue for their services and margins quite safe due to high demand low supply, and limited risk. Anwell on SGX supplies solar power equipment but I've been watching them a year and see little movement, and little coverage by analysts.

Like bryancbq says " it takes a strong heart and mind" to stay with this counter despite all the good news and recommendations. I'm going back in but may wait a few more days to buy as volume seems to have dropped quite a bit. Also, the Egyptian crisis doesn't seem over even if Wall St seems to be discounting it at the moment Dow, Nasdaq, S& P all up right now and JP Morgan thinks that US investors will see Egypt as a 'speed bump' but continue buying anyway http://www.bloomberg.com/video/66314964/ | ||||

REA GROUP RECEIVES GO-AHEAD FOR SOLAR ENERGY FARM IN INNER MONGOLIA SINGAPORE, 31 January 2011 – Renewable Energy Asia Group (亚 洲 新 能 源 集 团 ) has received the go-ahead from the government of Inner Mongolia, for the construction of a 10-megawatt (MW) solar energy farm. The solar energy farm is part of the 285MW Green Energy Park concession in Zhenglanqi, Inner Mongolia, secured by REA Group last May. In addition to the solar energy farm, the Company will develop a 250MW wind farm, and a 25MW bio-fuel plant in the Park in phases. With the approval for the solar energy farm in hand, REA Group will kick off the project with a feasibility study for photovoltaic system installation in the Zhenglanqi area. The Company will concurrently source for a local partner to jointly construct the farm following the conclusion of the study by end-2011. The total cost of investment for the solar energy farm is estimated to be in the region of RMB190 million. “The approval from the Inner Mongolian government is an important flag-off for us in the development of the Green Energy Park. The completion of this project will be a milestone for REA Group, and we are pleased to be playing a major role in it,” Mr Xu Jian, Chairman of REA Group said. The development of the Green Energy Park in Zhenglanqi is part of the autonomous region’s plans to showcase its expansive natural resources and green initiatives to generate clean energy. It is scheduled to be completed within five years’ time. In recent years, China has demonstrated strong commitment in reducing its reliance on environmentally harmful fossil fuels with key laws and regulations. The country is 31 January 2011 – REA Group Receives Go-Ahead For Solar Energy Farm In Inner Mongolia Page 2 of 2 planning to pump in some RMB5 trillion in investments between 2011 and 2020, to promote the development of its renewable energy industries as part of its 12th and 13th Five-Year Plan. |

that's cos they are vested at 30 cents. 36 cents give them a profit of 20 percent. My outlook for this counter remains positive, but it takes other BBs (other than DMG), to push up the price. This week's market sentiments seem to be quite bad. hopefully next week will be better.

Any idea which co listed in sgx is involved in the production of nuclear power station related equipment? I've got strong faith in this counter. Looking out for other renewable energy related counters as well. Hu An might be good, but waiting for it to drop more first. |

Vestas manufacture and sell wind turbines. As prices get more competitive due to increasing number of Chinese manufacturers, their margins will be affected. However, other wind turbine manufacturers such as GE are generally doing very well with wind being their more profitable sectors. Renewable Energy has wind farm concessions. They don't manufacture wind turbines. They will benefit if companies like Vestas have to sell cheaper. Renewable Energy's wind farm makes money by selling the power generated in their farm to the Chinese government. Power purchasing agreements tend to be at least 10 years and they are at fixed rates i.e. the rates will ensure that the income to wind farm concessionaires is guaranteed and profitable. This is because governments want to promote renewable energy as one of the ways to counter global warming. At just 2.5 degrees celcius rise above industrial levels, experts estimate that is the turning point where the earth will produce more CO2 than it can absorb.
