Hold
Phillip Securities downgrades from Buy and cuts the target price to 61 cents from 66 cents after revising earnings estimate downwards for FY '10. The house lowers the estimates of fresh fruit bunch and crude palm oil yields to 22.4 tonne/ha and 5.15 tonne/ha versus 23.1 tonne/ha and 5.35 tonne/ha, respectively, for FY '10. |

Q2 EPS is 0.0055 1H EPS is 0.0176 I believe on Q3 the EPS will improve due to CPO price has significant increased from July to Oct due to low out and Hari Raya. Whole should be 0.045 which the PE should be around 13.

I believe the main reason for today's drop is due to the global markets falling. Support seems to be at 56.5 cents. If can maintain at this level, quite likely there will be more upside in near term. I see more buyers. BBMMs excluded. | ||

I think the greenpeace news development is more important now. As of now, there is no concrete conclusion from the report, and both sides are claiming that they are right. Palm Oil Firm Rebuts Greenpeace Claim which says: An independent verification report showed that the Greenpeace claims were exaggerated and "was wrong in much of its campaign," Daud Dharsono, president director at PT Smart said. "The allegations made were unfounded and Smart is not responsible for deforestation and destruction of orangutan habitat as had been claimed." ... "We've repeatedly shown that Sinar Mas says one thing and does another. They destroy peatland and call it water management. They clear rainforests and say that they're developing degraded land. Instead of acting on our findings, which conclusively prove Sinar Mas destroys rainforests and peatlands, they are trying to greenwash their image," said Bustar Maitar, Southeast Asia Forest Team Leader for Greenpeace. "The Sinar Mas spin is a poor attempt at brand protection that does nothing to challenge Greenpeace's findings," he added. ... Unilever, which purchases 47,000 tons of palm oil from Smart annually, said in a statement that "while the verification reports represent a good start, they are not sufficient in themselves for us to resume business with Smart. We want our suppliers to really work with us towards attaining 100% sustainable palm oil by 2015." A company spokesperson at Nestle didn't respond to comments on Smart's verification reports. |
