x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	BEIJING (AP) -- China has ordered most of its banks to increase the amount of money they hold in reserves in a new move to curb lending and surging inflation. The central bank's order Thursday was the fifth reserve increase this year and came after consumer prices rose by a higher-than-expected 5.3 percent in April. Banks covered by the order were told to increase reserves by 0.5 percent of deposits as of next Wednesday. The measure is intended to curb credit by restraining the rapid growth in the pool of money available for lending.
