Attended shareholders meeting yesterday. Full of cliche'd phrases. Chairman's son took center stage.Lack of fluency in English meant that he spent more time meandering around trying to find the right words to express what he really wanted to say . His management team no better. So a bit painful to listen What shareholders wanted to hear was his plans for the company post F& N acquisition. Heard nothing beyond usual platitudes ie working hard, doing best blah blah. Was at a pains to stress that F& N was 130 year old company. Good trophy in cupboard . Meanwhile catalyst statements to push Thaibev share price sorely missing . Mad rush for buffet table later. Mainly oldies and pensioners. All looking terribly famished . All had good tuck-in. Collected two cans of Chang Beer . |

STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE-Index lower Thai Bev leads decline Singapore shares edged lower, weighed down by a sharp drop in Thai Beverage Pcl earnings. The benchmark Straits Times Index < .FTSTI> eased 0.7 percent to 3,224.76, while the MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan < .MIAPJ0000PUS> traded nearly flat. Thai Bev shares dropped as much as 7 percent to a 1-1/2-week low of S$0.535, and were headed for their biggest daily loss in more than a year, after the company reported a 2 percent drop in second-quarter net profit. [ID:nSNZ4KnM0T] " The share price decline is due to disappointment in earnings and concerns that Thailand's consumer spending may further slow down," said analysts at Bangkok-based KT ZMICO Securities.
