Ray, you're the man indeed for unselfishly sharing your tips and expertise. Kudos to you! Personally i think everyone has to develop their own investing style, favourite sectors/counters, entry and exit strategy, coupled with risk appetite. For instance, from "The Intelligent Investor", they will tell you if you're contented with 10% returns, buy index funds instead of common stocks! Undoubtedly most of us are into charts some way or another, but the basic fundamentals and principles of investing will need to hold. I presume every here is not contented with 10% returns :) Echo what Ray said - CASH is king. Personally, i will only buy within my cash holding means, though there have been a few quick entry/exits within the contra period, when i felt it was not worth the opportunity cost of paying up. Cheerios. |

Melvin, I'm still looking at a few..will confirm again. Jerome, you're right, run could be soon. But I wouldn't enter just yet. Shijiez, things are looking alright for HG Metal, but I would try to get it at a slightly lower price, say...0.475. (emptor caveat) (not vested) |

Hi Ray, so taking Lottvis as example (not an inducement to buy), can we say that smart money is flowing in from the OBV? |

Hey Shijiez, good to know you've been reading up! Rayzor, there are many software that scans. Important thing is not what is used to scan, but what you put as parameters to scan. Breakouts occur alot, but which ones are the ones that follows through, and which ones die after a spurt. Which ones will fall the next few days and which ones will clear the contra players out first before moving on. The problem is that ALOT of investors here and anywhere else are short-term investors, not by choice, because there is not a whole lot of liquidity in Singaporeans. How many people owes credit companies... How many people have lots of cold hard cash in the banks... How many people are financially free without car loans, housing loans, wedding loans, business loans... So, without liquidity, a lot are cornered to do that short-term thing, because CASH is king. Nothing else beats this. Some folks here in the forums know my portfolio and fund size, but still I prefer short to mid term plays, even though I hold some private placement long term portfolio. What I look for are counters that do this... See the buy call on Koh Bros, 2 days ago? There is no holy grail, but it gets pretty close. (by the way, do not get in anymore today. I think tomorrow will not be such a good day for this counter) |

Thanks for all the nice compliments. Much appreciated. Was wondering for a while why there are so many reads but the posts lag behind the reads in this thread. CoolJoe: Will be posting soon. Monitoring some already. But HAVE TO BE extra careful. The trick is to find counters that moves up continuously for several days instead of the many other counters that goes up one day, and down the other, which is rather pointless. BlackJac: Those are self-formulated indicators, won't be available in the market. They basically measure force and psychology. Dj_insider: Hey, good to know you're profiting! I'm sure we'll have the opportunity to meet up soon for that lunch. : ) Sojourner: Good to have you join us. Would love for you to post those charts of yours as well here. : ) Melvingohmgman: ChinaPetrl has more upside. Notice how they're flushing out the contras... Wait for breakout. Seksun as well, more upside. Could move anytime. Wouldn't enter just yet. Wait for breakout. CSC, I called for it a few days ago, still doing fine. Dj_insider: HLG may break anytime. Enter after it breaks, not before, about 0.465. |
