Buying and holding is a game most people play. In the last three years, holding losing counters can eat up at leas 50 percent of your capital. Nevertheless it is still investment, but losing. Yet still can wait for better times to make back. Shorting is a form of reverse investment. If one shorted the market and hold short positions for the last three years, he will make some money but lose in interest charges. It costs 10 percent per year to hold a short position on top of the cash deposits (some brokerages insist on 40% deposit/margin) to borrow shares shorted. Shortists are luckier last few years. They didn't get burnt like what longists got. So both ways people are taking risks.

I bought info shares in 06/07 between 5-12cts using my spare cash and I was prepared for long term, that time nobody interested or even condemned it. However in July last year, it shot up from 6 to 22cts when Peter Lim came on
board,,,,as a result, unload all holdings and it was one of my biggest winning last
year 2010 ....( I said this before in this thread )

Hopefully its out of the wood already except that the brokergae ppl doesn't update after last report - maybe, need to pay brokerage house to write good things about it. Its a commercial world this days, no money no talk, pay and they will try to paint a brighter prospect for you so that it hopefully will generate some interst and get noticed. Or it just get fall behind and forgotten and obscure in one quiet corner. :) Untill some black knight get it noticed like the LIM at one stage:). |
