I don't know how analysts based on issuing a buy or sell call. Sometimes they issued for their own interests, eg. to sell or to buy. Well though they might say caveat emptor, but I remembered hit many times by buy calls which can make you stuck for several years. The law should make these people responsible because we are expectant of responsibilty socially and ethically.

i am holding it since i bot it at .61, bt unfortunately i did not top up when it was at the low (.50) mainly because of fear....too bad...shld hv topped up during the low.....

8TELECOM: Making minority shareholders happy

Telecom is a small cap – and a S-chip! - that is enjoying the 3G boom in China, and has made a number of happy moves for minority shareholders this year.

It has surprised them with two dividend payouts – for half-year and Q3 this year – of 1.185 Singapore cents each time.

It didn’t have dividend payouts for those reporting periods last year.

The dividend yield has been fabulous this year. At 2.37 cents a share for the two dividends in aggregate, the yield was 23.7% for investors who bought the stock at 10 cents. It is now hovering at 15 cents.

That yield doesn't take into account that in May this year, prior to the release of its half-year results, the company had paid out the final dividend of 0.111 cent per share for the financial year ended 31 December 2008.

The Group’s revenue from continuing operations rose 25.8% to RMB92.7 million in 3Q2009 from RMB73.7 million in 3Q2008, underlining the steady growth of its core businesses as China’s telecom operators continue to invest heavily in expanding their 3G network coverage across the country.

The Group’s net profit from continuing operations surged 279.9% y-o-y to RMB8.2 million in 3Q2009 compared to RMB2.1 million in 3Q2008.

Revenue and cost from the sale of the office units will be recognised during the last quarter of 2009 upon the transfer of these units to the buyers. The Group expects progressive sales from this project over the rest of FY2009.

Minority shareholders would have been delighted when on Oct 16, 8 Telecom started its share buyback programme following the shareholder approval of the buyback mandate in April 09.

Consecutively, cash and cash equivalents rose to RMB141.6 million from RMB23.5 milliona year ago.

Adding to the positive underlying business fundamentals, on Sept 30, the Group announced it had completed the sale of 5,363.7sqm of office space in its property development, Linping Times Square.

Started with Am Fraser TP $1.03,then Philip Securities $0.93 ,Westcombsecurities $0.92 then DMG $0.68 and UOB Kayhian $0.66...latest 3rd results not bad too...hve been buying at 51-52cts and relling at 56-57cts recently..the rest is for long haul since 3g in PRC looks very promising A_cheergal
