Pg 18 Edge Magazine...Oculus plan to turn itself into an energy play is taking a new direction with the co announcing 2 new corporate moves this month as hydropower acquisitions are delayed. proposal 1) Buy 70% stake in PT Balikpapan Oil Terminal that is building an oil storage terminal that hve an initial capacity of 60 000 tonnes expandable to 100 000.This Indonesian co signed MOU to lease with a French oil giant to lease 40 000 tonnes of storage tankers for 5 years proposal 2 ) Oculus sign an agreement with Aerate pte Ltd to jointly invest in projects that comform to Kyoto Protocol's objectives of reducing greenhouse emissions and clients include Malaysia's Federal Land Development Authority.Oculus and Aerate first joint investment will be to produce compost from neighbouring oil palm plantations. Oculus and Aerate plan to sell the carbon credits generated by the projects in Europe fro additional revenueBoth co also plan to process land fill gas and other biomass process enterprises. .Low Shiong Jin,director of Oculus and Ariel Singapore will now instead assist Hunan Zhangjiajie Electric Power Co Ltd whivh initially Oculus had proposed to pay $60.5mil for their 4 hydroelectric plants will now help them assess and invest in these projects. Low added "With Oculus,we want to do with sustainable energy and enviromental resources.All the cos we hve invested in,we want to turn around and improve..' Ariel singapore has begun acquiring over 10% shares in SNF Corp base on filing eith SGX dated 9 Oct planning to turn SNF into a health care co .SNF might not be a willing takeover target and the market seems to sense what's coming.Shares in th eloss making electronics distributor have more than doubled since Aug on heavy volume. Director Tay Teng Yew of SNF increased his stake in SNF via open mkt purchase to preven a hostile takeover by Global Ariel..probably Global Ariel and Oculus will act in concert to mount this takeover..gd show on |

Electronics distributor (CAD) probe, has a fresh problem on its hands. Its new substantial shareholders are demanding that all of the company's directors resign by this coming Monday, else an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) will be called to effect their removal. Sources told The Business Times that a special notice has been sent to SNF's five directors - including chairman John Chen, a former Member of Parliament - asking for their resignation. The notice was sent by Ariel Singapore Pte Ltd and its executive director, Low Shiong Jin, asking SNF's board to voluntarily resign 'as recent events have led us to lose faith in the incumbent board's ability to create shareholder value for the benefit of all shareholders in the company'. Anyone knows why SNF Corp is moving up from 0.08 to 0.15 within 2 weeks? Last qtr result doesn't look good but it has moved up quite a fair bit lately with high vol traded the last 2 days. Anyone vested here and care to share your view on this one? Thanks. |
