the CEO, Mr Leslie Wa, has a big stake in the company, as does several members of the Wa ffamily. This gives me some confidence that they will work hard for their own interest and that of other shareholders. The interests are aligned, in other words.

HLN's market cap now is about $49 million. It aims to achieve market cap of $250 million by 2009. That's an amazing 5-bagger! That means the stock has to move from 49 cts now to $2.50. (HLN has about 100 million shares) Will it be achievable? Time will tell, but I like the management's bold ambition and its confidence as shown by its public declaration about its target. It has set itself a very high target and surely will work towards it diligently. HLN Technologies, which makes metal, rubber and foam parts for mobile phones and vacuum cleaners, expects sales of nearly $60 million in 2007 and of over $100 million by 2009 on strong consumer electronics demand.
For calendar year 2006, HLN expects to report a rise in revenue of over 70%, Chief Executive Leslie Wa told Reuters in an interview.
"Over the past two years, our growth has been flat -- we were like a plane taxiing on the runway -- but 2007 is the year where we take off, and we have targeted atleast a 30% increase in net earnings from this year onwards," Wa said.
It makes ink-absorbers for printers, rubber seals for vacuum cleaners and vibrator-motor cushions for mobile handsets.
To fund its expected robust growth, HLN is considering raising funds through the sale of new shares, Wa said.
"We do not rule out a future placement of new shares to institutional investors when the price is right, possibly within this year," he added.
The placement of new shares would be less than 10% of its total issued share capital of 98 million shares, Wa said.
Last week, HLN said its substantial shareholders, Wa and his mother, Tan Su Hong, had sold a total of 5.88 million vendor shares, representing 6% of the group's share capital, to institutional investors at 28 Singapore cents a share.
HLN's customers include the world's top contract electronics maker Flextronics International, Venture Corp and Thailand's Cal-Comp Electronics and PCL. These firms in turn supply to the likes of Hewlett-Packard and Xerox Corp. HLN competes with Spindex, Armstrong and Adampak.
Looking ahead, Wa expects the defence and semiconductor industries to drive growth for its metal components division, while demand for foam and rubber parts would benefit from the fast expanding consumer electronics and office automation segments, he added.
