Looks like the market is likely to take a break in March and will resume its climb only if first quarter results surprise on the upside. |

By the way, CIMB had on 150207 rated ECS an outperform with a target price of S$0.61. I hope the target price will be reached because I am vested with 30 lots. Cheerios! |

Construction stocks will do well due to more spending on infrastructure. -------------------------------------------- SINGAPORE: The government has raised its growth forecast for this year. It is now expecting to see a climb to the 4.5-6.5 percent range ? up from the previous estimate of 4.0-6.0 percent range. The upgrade follows a better than expected growth in the economy last year. In final numbers out on Wednesday, the Singapore economy grew by 6.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2006, taking full-year GDP growth to 7.9 percent. That is better than the earlier estimate of 7.7 percent. Growth in the fourth quarter came chiefly from biomedical manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and financial services, which helped to offset slower electronics manufacturing and exports. Record job creation and tourist arrivals also spurred consumer spending. And the construction sector continued its growth trend with an expansion of 4.7 percent in the fourth quarter. Going forward into 2007, economists said that the upgraded forecast of 4.5-6.5 percent is achievable. Economists expect manufacturing to pick up in the second quarter, and financial services to continue going strong ? partly due to the stock market and high corporate loan growth. The external environment is also seen as positive, with oil prices falling from their 2006 peak and fears of a housing market correction in the United States subsiding. Vishnu Varathan, Regional Economist, Forecast, said: "Housing numbers, which are historically known to influence consumption in the US, have come in higher than expected ? we're not looking at such a severe slowdown now. So Ministry of Trade and Industry sees it fit to raise their growth forecast upwards." Ng Wai Choong, Deputy Secretary (Industry), Ministry of Trade and Industry, said: "It is a broad sweep of all the different environmental factors. We also look at the different sectoral forecast and the macroeconomic forecast, and overall, growth is likely to be higher than previously projected. Hence, we've shifted upwards our forecast range." The budget announcement on Thursday is expected to include some fiscal stimulus to fuel domestic growth, with its distribution of goodies such as a corporate tax cut. The government has flagged subsidies for low-income households and may also announce new spending on infrastructure. - CNA/so |

ECS profit margin is razor thin. Although it is tryin to improve it with enterprise services, its margin can never be impressive if you compare with stock with margin of up to 70+%. I used to hold this stock for 3 years but have since took profit and will have no intention to buy unless there is sufficient reason to do so. just my personal comment. |

NTA of ECS is reported to be 51c and the company is going to pay a dividend of S$15, which is 3.658% based on S$410 per lot. It makes me wonder why it is now trading at just around 41c. Btw, CIMB has just raised its price target for it to S$0.61. |
