x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Natural rubber futures in Tokyo dropped to a 3-month low as the dollar's rally reduced the appeal of commodities as a hedge against inflation. Rubber fell for a third day as the dollar reached a 5-month high against the euro, and investors speculated that slowing economies will sap demand for commodities. "Foreign funds have been long on rubber," Lee Ching Tiat, managing director of Transworld Rubber Ltd., said today by phone from S'pore. "Now they are getting out of it after commodities like oil and platinum fell." Rubber for Jan delivery fell 1.4% to settle at 307.2 yen a kg (US$2,799 a tonne) on TOCOM. That's the lowest close since May 8. Platinum futures in Tokyo fell 1.1% today. Soybeans and palm oil also declined. Rubber futures also declined as supply in Thailand, the world's largest producer and exporter, increased amid the high- production season. Thai shippers offered RSS-3 grade rubber for Sep shipment at US$3.06 a kg on Aug. 8, down from US$3.07 a day earlier, according to Tokyo-based commodity broker Okachi & Co.
