disasterous indeed.... third quarter '08 net profit down 99.5% .compared to third quarter '07 net profit of 98,115,000 , third quarter '08 net profit is 507,000. now 4th quarter '08 also down so severely as well.... 2 consecutive disasterous quarters already... i m afraid this could be another cosco coming... from $8+++ to less than $1 .... i was tempted to try this counter... but seeing this result,i think better stay at 1 side,see how it goes first... wonder how mani more bad reports will start coming out since most will be reporting their profit/loss soon.....

Firstly, for those who got this one recently, dont panic unnessary...it is useless...ask yourself can this one go long...will this one in danger say these 2 years?? can it go under...i dont think it is.. Never mind you bought, just keep it...some time into the future, you look back and u be glad u bought at this px...2.xx...anyway, nobody can blame u...we really dont know the bottom..right now u may buy more cheaply if u got $...i like this one...not vested but very likely will have it soon.. |

But others kept mentioning about buying "good stocks" with good dividends etc. If you had bought last year thinking it is a good dividend stock but eventually see your capital being significantly reduced, is it any good? |

Profit warning issued by SPC was rightly justified. 4Q08 results was quite disasterous.........These are some numbers extracted.... 4Q 08 Net Profit recorded was $(-50)mil. .......or -9.7c per share. 4Q 08 Inventory writedown...... $(137.2) mil or -26.7c per share. Offset by Derivative gains of $20.3 mil ....or 3.9 c per share. It was reported that RM for 3Q was USD4.00/ bbl and for 2H was USD1.00/bbl. By extrapolation, 4Q RM was USD -2.00 /bbl.....which means Co was output value was less than input value after refining. 4Q Downstream operating profit $(-81.1) mil.....or (-15.8)c per share. 4Q Upstream operating profit $13.7 mil ....or 2.7 c per share.......compared to 9 months opn profit of $142.3 mil or 27.7c per share. |
