To Admin: just a thought : is it possible for u to put ur "Terms and Conditions " on the homepage... perhaps 1 section randomly each time we come into the site ....in the space below the 'welcome' line and the 'register now' banner ... or in any other more suitable way ... as a gentle reminder for everyone ...? its natural to be complacent after some time, isn't it ? |

choohain, exactly why most of us return to this wonderful site, to share and to post helping each other learn more and commit less mistake. happy to share with like minded. from briefing.com Bottom Line The market momentum from the rally that started last July is gone. Earnings growth is slowing down. There are concerns that interest rates will move higher. The economic outlook is decent, but not great. These are not the conditions of which great rallies are made. There is also the risk that, as sentiment shifts, some new fear arises. If that occurs and the market takes a hit, it may present a buying opportunity because valuations are decent. But any market slide will produce talk of a 10% correction, because the chartists note that the stock market has had its longest rally in decades without any such correction. We aren't bearish, but there are risks, and conditions are not such that there will be easy money to be made in the months ahead. As always: We believe that the best way to participate in the wealth creation machine known as the US economy is to own stocks. There are plenty of investors that first got into the market in the late 1990s, and learned that stocks can go down. However, it is wrong to conclude that rising stock markets always mean a bubble and then a crash. Over the long term, the indices march higher. Right now, stocks are reasonably valued and the outlook for the economy in the years ahead is good. Stocks will provide good long-term returns. |

Dear bunbun, good to know that you are around. Missed you. I really hope that everything will simmer down as apologies have been offered. There are a lot more good ppl than inexperienced ones. Money can cause ppl to be angry when there is a loss, but there is no one to blame but oneself. Any tips, I believe, have been given with sincerity for others to make money. I depend on ppl like victorian and Rayphua who have been unselfish in dishing out good tips. Of course there have been many fine ppl like my wonderful gals, - elf, singaporegal, fairygal and many others, too many to name ( I fear that I may leave out any one inadvertently). Thanks to all. |

It's bad...A forum that has been so promising now ended up with litigatious promises. Really sad. It would be good for SJ if the opposing parties can come to an amicable setttlement. Otherwise, SJ may lose some of its valued contributors and lose some of its value to members. Maybe we should start a "Save SJ" campaign! Any seconder? iPunter aka Manikammaniko, what are your worldly wise views on this latest unhappy episode, which paradoxically happens at a time when most forumers are happily making $$$? |

Besides the $2, the IPO charge won't have the usual (brokerage amount+ clearing fee + SGX trading fee) x 7% GST charge rite? I have a general hypothetical question regarding "market crash" phenomena. As history have shown, stock market usually "crash" after a peak/bubble. Given that Asia's financial policies are fundamentally much stronger than b4 1997 crisis, is it possible that there wont be a "crash" in the future but a gradual drop in STI index? For eg, STI index drops by 40 points a day for 30 days (like a "soft landing") instead of overnight drop of a few hundred pts ("crash")? |

Respect each other view, don't ever touch on personal attack, any argument should be base on logic and keep each bearing right. For all the young investor, at time everyone sure to lose money, there is no such thing as winning in every trade. When one make a personal attack knowingly, one should know it's will not end easily, it's not ego thing. it's one character. Stick to picking share and not picking on person!!!!! For this time, I hope Ray and Vic are forgiving. Hope all of us learn a GREAT lesson here too. This forum will be richer too. Be blessed... cheer |

Hi forumers, please advise me regarding a point on IPO bidding (i've been investing but not done an IPO yet). For example, if i bid for 10 lots for an IPO counter, and its 5x oversubscribed and there is by default balloting, does it roughly translate to getting 1 lot for every 5 lots i bidded? that is, i get 1 lot for every 10lots applied if 10x oversubscribed? Please advise, in very rough approx, if approval is inversely proportionate to oversubscription? Thanks :) |
