Hi ivorycoast U are dead right that the well-heeled need to travel to the IRs or Macau to join the action. The cruise ships bring the action to them - so SC prospects shd be bright, NOT doomed forever , unlike the thinking of this forum's real wise men. Only time will tell. |

Towkays buy business no read forum to make decisions one la ..... See how OHL turn around garbage to gold ? Real wise man ..... my hero ..... Anyone think OHL will read forum postings by layman (e.g. me) like this to make decisions on mega businesses ? |

My theory not so complex one ..... Cruise business not so easy to duplicate one ..... some more need mega bucks to buy ships ..... Think if sell the business complete with the know how (plus casino busines, whatever), sure got takers one ..... must remember, got casino business on it one ..... Casino is cash generating ..... non-stop days and nights ..... So easy to get casino licence meh ? |

Ivorycoast and all vested Would the big towkays be interested in SC when the learned postings by teeth53 and a few others show that "Doomsday" for SC seems imminent - it's DOOMED, DOOMED? It's going to take "eternity" to recover? How not to lose heart when one has to hope against hope to be able to live to see whether "Doomsday" for SC will become a reality? |

Very layman point of view ..... Basically, casino is mega business (also in terms of the cash turnaround) ..... Star Cruise also got casino business ma ..... Individually, is each ship profitable by itself ? In the bigger picture, don't spend money to buy more ships, how to generate an even bigger picture ..... Pay peanuts get monkeys ma ..... When IR ready, there could be a positive spillover effect for Star Cruise ..... you know la, gambling also must try different environment one ma ..... also, so much more tourist gamblers descending onto Singapore, other than gambling at resort, sure try try gambling at the cruise to nowhere one ..... exciting isn't it ? |

Hi all Based on all the learned advice, SC is doomed and may take ages to recover to its glorious past before the stock split. Have to wait for the turnaround till one's hair turn white or silver or when one is nearer "he...........? (what is that word - up to one's imagination) . Those vested in SC must accept the bitter truth, lah. |

hikitty, SC's price uptrend in 2007 was due to general market bullrun and euphoria of winning the Sentosa IR.....there was absolutely no fundamentals to support it. Any revenue/profit stream from the IR was still 3-4 years down the road....and even then, this was not a sure money making project. Now, with the IR stripped from it, the short term prospect will probably be that GI will pay SC a more than fair price for its stake.....when this is announced, SC's price will probably get a short term boost as the gains from the sale will help to reduce its bottomline losses. However, SC will still need to stem the bleeding from their US cruise business before any meaningful price uptrend can be expected. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this is the brutal truth about this counter. |

Hi Kitty, Following the short or long and/or TA or FA, me just like to say follow the trench, mkt down, either wait or let px to settle 1st b4 buying, mkt trenchup-don chase after px if it move px up oredi, wait and be patience, antway mkt traded over the last few days (Mon-Thus is volatile) ,take opportunties to buyin and keep or hold and take profit when it does come and it will come... SC and Gen't is NO DEAD share, personnally i prefer Gen't over SC as it change it course and direction half way, Gen't can be an index stock and when 2008 arrive Gen't can even be coming an even more important stock and will be given a little more index weight, that is for mid to long term, short term can be very volatile in nature, having said that, buy within ur mean to hold and on a dipping px, good entry is B4 it got this IR project, so now ps has gone up, good entry now seem impossibe, likely below 80c is good entry or px fall by 5%-10%. Just my tot. Will be Range bound trading with profit taking in between.. when px certain US$0.xx cts |

Whatever one's investment 'horizon' is, one should stick to it... ie. .. If one is a long-term investor (eg, like forummer Hulumas), one should look further down the road (eg. months, years). Whereas if one is decidedly a shorter-term trader, one should also not let any long-term view or outlook colour one's decisive trading decisions. |

Hi ivorycoast - SC swee swee recovery? when? Looks like it will be in 2008 or 2009 - NOT anytime soon. It took 2 years for SC to recover (it dipped in 2005 and recovered for a short while in 2007) The problem with SC is that its recovery phase is often VERY short lived, very sad lah. Some investors, alas, may not live to see the "swee swee" recovery!. |

It doesn't really matter whether one is long or short... But it does matter if one is biasedly (ie. stubbornly) long or short when the charts later show we are wrong. |

Wait4opp - do u think the short sellers will believe u? They don't mind losng their shorts. They will continue short selling SC everyday to make kopi $$$ until it is dead.. They think SC is a useless share, has got no future and will continue to be in the red every year. The short sellers are smarter than Stanley Ho, the SC investor. Easy mah, just short sell 500 lots every day to get kopi $$$ . |

The pending announcement of SC's IR sale proceed and investment in Macau (may be there will be another suspension soon), shd be positive for SC shares - another rally by then? Pray that those who queue to buy are NOT daily traders so that SC shares would firm up, and there would be less opportunities for short selling. Hope the daily volume will keep on reducing so that the price may firm. up. |
