That factor, and the representation of the Standard Chartered lawsuit in the Annual Report, plus the fact that losses had been incurred in disposing of Horizon (which was the leftover vestiges of the reverse takeover), made me hold on to this a little longer. Vested as this makes up about 8% of my total portfolio, thus I see it as a potential company. Still, I maintain my usual healthy dose of skepticism. |

Share buyback will reduce the outstanding number of shares and the paid-up capital. It will improve the earnings per share for us. For GV case it is double good news for the retail investors because the business contracts keep coming in . |

hikitty.. Share buyback can be activated for a couple of reasons..be it to enhance shareholder value..to support undervalued share price..and sm other reasons.. if price drop drastically it can be activated to mop up shares at dirt cheap prices and enable a win win situation.. Its true smtimes buyback is not activated as decision lies with management.. Honestly i think this time rally is sustainable for a number of reasons.. firstly..company has showed that they have built the grounds for growth and reinforce this with many contracts.. secondly..profits havent been really encouraging becoz payments from contracts won havent really been realised and when they are realised this year it should jump many folds.. If these materialise plus company keeps winning new contracts and maintaining old ones and extending current clients..then theres only one way to grow..up..and dun forget the business they are in is expected to grow substantially meaning demand is high..and entry price for any new competitors is very high due to infrastructure and such.. |

Hi eellee.. Share buyback is a mechanism for company to buy back shares using available funds which are normally surplus..it is up to company's discretion and buyback price is normally pegged to previous average five days market price ie..maximum price is at 105% of average if open market purchase and 120% of average if off market purchase.. Whether company wants to exercise buyback is entirely up to the directors..if they think share is undervalued and they intend to enhance sharevalue they can exercise buyback up to 10% of issued share capital.. CEO did mention in the EDGE he believes the fair value of GV is around 30 cents and hes frustrated its undervalued..dats y hes toying with a second listing in europe where the companys physical presence and growing staturemight probably entice investors.. So based on the 30 cents fair value he indicates and being probably one of those who can influence decision to buyback at current price of even 18.5cents now he might think share price is still undervalued and he might initiate buyback.. Just my humble thoughts.. Anyway company fundamentals are very strong and they are winning deals after deals and this year might be the year the profits show up in their books..a good growth company in my honest opinion..but not for speculation.. |

Hi Novocaine Check me if I am wrong. Share buy back would be activated if share price drops drastically . It's usual for approval to be given, but seldom activated Hope this rally can hold, unlike the one that happened more than a year ago. It fizzled out after briefly hitting a peak of 20cts.. |

Hi Novocaine Care to enlighten me (greenhorn) what might happen if share buyback does kick-in. I understand, sometime ago, GLOBAL was seeking for shares consolidation (i.e.. 5 shares to 1 share). Thanks in advance. |

Global Voice is making a breakthrough! Stock price now 17.5 cts (+1 ct). Several roadshows to convince analysts & fund managers being planned in Europe & US soon! Excerpt from chairman Ng Jui Ping's letter to shareholders (from annual report): ...........the Board and Management are aggressively growing the profile of the Company with investors and analysts, and having already completed an Investor Roadshow in Singapore will now conduct same in Europe and the US during April and May. The telecommunications environment is on the threshold of a major transformation and in 2007 we have already experienced a surge in demand for high capacity, mission critical solutions - all of which can only be delivered on fiber |

I like what that was written, if I may add, I think one of the reason it is not pick up is because it on the second board. General impression is not there, but nevertheless, I will keep it in the horizon. Cheers |

sharealley wrote: "So, the biodata of particular person does not guarantee successful trading." I didnt imply that the biodata wld guarantee profitable investment. I did say, however, that the man has solid credentials and I am prepared to take his words at face value. In this case, his words are, in essence, that the profits will roll in and the stock price should reflect that. In the case of Horizon, the business flopped and so did the stock price. Simple as that. |

Glad that u know it was formerly Horizon. Upon IPO listing, it was played to >$1.00 but not keen to find out which level until price is near it. So, the biodata of particular person does not guarantee successful trading. My friend recommended this website saying that most are nice people and many gurus around and ask me to contribute. I monitor for a while before i decided to join in the forum where GV is my 2nd posting. The 1st was Frontline posted this morning. I'm saddened by many of them that were too happy to cash out for a few cents gain and let the BBs earn the bucks. One shd invest like the BBs and share their bucks. As for switching counter, it is a complicated matter with many factors to consider. I can't offer advice for switching from STE to GV. But if u have sufficient fund, then buy into GV as it had yet to break the neckline at 22.5c. I'll only switch from a counter that had run up a lot and buy into potential target. There are still plenty out there with explosive charts waiting for ur money if time can wait 4 u. I like the current rotational play allowing switching of counters and max. my profit returns. I'm monitoring Delong closely as it had run up a fair bit. Bought at 11c and Wrt at 9c. i had cashed out of FJBen at ave 72c (cost at 28c) and Wrt at ave 25c (cost at 4.5c). I'm still keeping 11 lots of FJBen for med term of >$1.20. In this way, it shd be safe n sound. Recent buy include: Compact at 3c and Wrt at 2c; Freightlink Wrt at 4c; EngKong at 19.5c; ITG at 5.5c; Teledata at 4.5c; KLW at 5.5c, Jade at 3c, Hotung at 13.5c. Frontline at 13.5c (add on),CMPac at 85c. and Grandbank at $1.02(add on). All these having wonderful long term charts but must have patience to wait for the consolidation phase to be over and then, break out of the long term resistance. Remember, u are buying at the base and not chasing the rockets. |
