I saw them saying that now is the time for a long term investment, saying the price is attractive now for a 10 yr or 20 yr entry. I was looking for hints from their comments that the market might be turning up, unfortunately all I sensed was a desperate attempt to slow down the selloff. Seems like none of them is confident that the market had reached the bottom. Guess my vacation from the market had to be extended further. Trade carefully, good luck all.

Technically, it a shortist day on opening, gap down, even when DOW recover from it more then 3% fall.

(Difficult with Euro woes and Ah Ben uninspring move, trading will be on a wild swing).

A matter to sell n buy back, then it oso a matter to buy  n sell - No holding (good for day Trader / Remiser)

Silver lining in the emerging mkts,

Economies have something most others don't: Growth in local demand for goods and services. Setting them up for a major relief rally once the panic selling  has abated. Swift action is needed by the govts of these countries to make sure that their economies can survive mkt rout and re-emerge as a stronger investment alternatives for Wall Street.



Outperforming established economies. (Are Angmo fund -  investment) Dollars flowed freely out of U.S.  & Euro stock mkts pumped up those in Asia and Latin America, while currency traders took out short dollar positions, raising the value of emerging market currencies versus the greenback. So far this year, inflows into emerging market fixed income funds alone were $36 billion, according to JP Morgan (JPM).

Just last week, (Angmo fund -withdrawn) from d  emerging mkts took the brunt of the burn of the last few trading sessions, with the MSCI Emerging Markets Index losing 11% on the week, its biggest loss since 2008.

Total emerging mkt equity funds have seen $1.4 billion in redemptions for the wk ended Sept 21st, the latest data available from exchanges. Friday - Korea. No signs of sell-off abating, with $183m of outflows.

Vast majority of tis selling occurred following, Fed's announcement of its new " Operation Twist" on  Wed. Mkts felt that half hearted Fed action, which hopes to lower long-term interest rates, would not be as effective as another round of quantitative easing. Inflation fears caused investors to pull out of emerging mkts on  Thursday which exacerbated the sell-offs around the globe.

As many investors sold holdings for cash, to cover losses in other financial markets or to stay on the sidelines during weekend meetings planned by the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, analysts said.

Worries lingered  on lagging pace of global economy,!! till a better idea of what's next best for the economy.

" holding for cash" What does it mean..?. into near future. Cash in hand, is the most liquid asset. Some players has seen to be profiting on gold and oil price, and getting ready to pound and bet on liquidity mkt.

Will it be gold, oil  and others commodities, bond, stocks and or others like  U.S. dollar and Treasuries..?.

Those who dabble in those  short term  3x leveraged ETFs either get wiped out or wipe others out. I  shall not  name  the products  here because it really isn't  worth dipping your toes into those instruments. The  intraday prices  moves  too fast & compounding effects (time decay) on overnight/ longer  term positions  is  too complex for most  retail investors  to comprehend.

One has to know the pm  futures realm  is on  entirely different  operatives  from the bullion/ physical market.  Regular investors who sees  gold and esp. silver  spot  in a tailspin the past 3 days will be wondering why even gold  is not a  safe haven? Everything in the  financial mkt is  speculative in nature.

There are many reasons why precious metals  (pm) including gold spot prx  can drop big in an intraday volatile session. The main trigger factor for gold & silver's drop  this  time round is due to movements in the currency (forex)  markets,  flight to safety to the greenback & US T-bills.  Doesn't necessarily  mean there will be  fresh  round of capital  inflows to the stock markets like in the past. 

The dollar spiked  by a good measure  this past week, conversely you will see massive selloffs in commodities esp. in industrial metals & pm sector. 

Another trigger factor is, whenever NYMEX  (New York Merchantile Exchange) intervenes  to cool speculation in precious metals by  raising  min. margin requirement, it invariably  causes sell-offs in  gold & silver spot  by traders who have overleveraged to close  their  positions.
