STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

yes, October is always the " special month" for stock market.... for the Lehman Crisis which started in mid-Sep 2008, within 1-month, DOW hit 8000 and STI hit 1800 in Oct 2008 .... this current downtrend started in early Aug after S& P downgraded US debt rating and EU crisis, it's been 2 months now, it is unlikely for DOW to hit 8000 this OCT month..... once Oct is cleared, let's hope big crash won't come new year and rebound is on the way......good luck. |

I dun't quite agree with you on numbers dun't lie. Numbers can be and will be manipulated all around the global markets. If the numbers are too good to be true, it's probably not. :p

10:05 am : Stocks recently retreated in a retracement of their move up from morning lows, but the major averages are now making another attempt to push higher. The move comes in response to the latest dose of data. The ISM Manufacturing Index for September came in at 51.6, which is above the 50.5 that had been broadly expected among economists polled by Briefing.com. The latest reading also marks an improvement from the 50.6 that was posted for the prior month. Separately, construction spending during August reportedly increased by 1.4%, which is far better than the 0.5% decline that had been generally anticipated. I said before that a comany and it's stocks must be treated as separate entities... Loving the companies' fundamentals is not the sames loving the stock. Stocks with lousy fundamentals can soar up the sky... Stocks with the best fundamentals can drop like sheet... But in any case, no one can know all the fundamentals...  |

I won't say singing the fundamental tune is wrong lah. It really keeps one sane during the turbulance times knowing that the company is still sound despite economy uncertainty. e.g. I held on to SMRT during 2009 and DCA it in view of the company's fundamental, I was rewarded. Perhaps one thing to note is NOT to kid yourself holding onto the stock if the company fundamentals begins to decline. Numbers dont lie. |

But sad to say, many people have been holding it all the way from the high top... All because they " think long term" and also " sing the fundamentals tune" . In stocks, it is most important not to keep on losing money...

Hi Alex,you really make it sounds so scary. This time round,hope you are wrong [even I m a great fan of your posts],I m prepared for crash next year but not so soon. Yes, all the signs are there,but something tells me " The One" will come in hard next year.Some white knights or many pearl white knights will come to the rescue i hoped.
