As long the trend continue, all shipping counters would recover but currently due to hand off approach caused by tapering not much movement for shipping counters this week. Next week might be better, BDI might cross 2000 soon but SCFI fall far behind need some catching up. BDI up trend good for trading sentiment in shipping counters.

All this heading into 4Q contract rate if nothing is done by end sep, off peak session starting as usual. Currently container shipping is entering a new age of ultra large ships offering lower shipping cost due to better fuel efficient ships. Those liners that did not renew fleet during 2012/13 going to suffer due to new norm, to get back to previous profit margin  need to upgrade ships to lower down operating cost. Explain why Korean and china state owned liners are ordering the 18K teu ships now abeit too late to save their balance sheet from bleeding in 2014/15 where low rate are set to stay. Luckily for ship, fleet renewal program would be completed in 2014 resulting in significant cut in operating cost to maintain profit margin. Maersk line had  displayed that even in hardcore super low rate can still make a lot of money using fuel efficient ships and supply management.

Now need to pray hard nothing big happen at the weekend and next week then shipping counters are all set for share price recovering. When Syria crisis and fed tapering is finally over, growth/shipping counters would be in investors favour.
