Our minister is visiting Indonesia to discuss about Bintan and Batam development for the next few days. Might have some surprise. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_619928.html\ MINISTER for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, will be in Jakarta from Monday to Tuesday. He will be attending a ministerial meeting with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa and other senior officials to discuss the progress of the six joint Economic Working Groups formed after an earlier retreat between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in May 2010. The six working groups are set up to enhance bilateral economic cooperation in cruise tourism, civil aviation, manpower and agribusiness, investments and cooperation in the special economic zones (SEZs) of Batam, Bintan, and Karimum (BBK) as well as other SEZs. During the visit, Mr Lim will also be holding bilateral meetings with Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Pangestu and Industry Minister MS Hidayat. Mr Lim will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Transport and other government agencies for the trip. Singapore was the top source of realised foreign investment into Indonesia in 2009, amounting to US$4.4 billion. Gallant Venture +6.9%; Still Undervalued -Kim Eng Gallant Venture (5IG.SG) +6.9% at S$0.385, extending its recent gains (+45% since start of November vs STI +1.5%) as interest in Gallant--which has landbank in Bintan about a quarter of the size of Singapore--has been revived after Kim Eng initiated the counter at Buy with a S$0.75 target on Nov. 23. Then, the brokerage noted "with land sales in Bintan going at 36 times its book value, it is becoming clear that the company's landbank in the island is grossly undervalued." Today, Kim Eng says despite the stock's 41% rise since initiation, it still maintains its view "that the company is undervalued and if tourist arrivals to Bintan should beat forecasts, the upside to our target price will increase as more developers will come on board to speed up the rejuvenation of the island as a regional tourist hub." Orderbook quotes suggest a S$0.40 cap. |
