Usually those who don't practise any hands-on TA will buy when the stock is already hot, already 'cheonged'. It happens all the time. |

Up 1cts to 37.5 cts today. Healthy volumes too. Did it move as a result of my post in 'Confessions of a FA Purist'? If so, I am flattered. |

Low volumes... TA people should avoid. Also, I think this one is on a downtrend. |

Stamford Land is basically a dividend play. Do not expect excitement. Prices moves slowly and at times hardly. However, it did move up from below 20 cents a few years ago to where it is today. That happens because of the buoyant Aussie and NZ economies over the past few years. Strong Aussie and NZ Dollars also translated into strong foreign exchange gains Can see any price catalyst going ahead unless Ow family wants to take it private. Still trading at a discount to its NAV. If you are satisfied with 6% dividend yield pa, this is one good stock to keep. |

Low volume counter... trend a little uncertain. I guess the price will be more or less stagnant for a while. |

I hv this counter for many years, since it split from Spore shipping. A good last dividen paid out. Though the downside risk for this counter is limited, this share is for a long term investor. ++ |

Appreciate coments from the floor. Co. is part of Sp Ship's Ow CK stable of companies. It owns hotels, is in hotel management and property development - in Australia and NZ. Currently it owns 8 hotels and manages 2 others in Australia and NZ under the STAMFORD brand names.....all of which are 4-5 star hotels. Its property development, the Stamford Marque (SM), a high end condo of about 80+units (last reported to have sold 50+ units), located next to THE ROCKS precinct, in Sydney, is due for completion in Nov 06. They shut down the Auckland Stamford Plaza in June for 4 mths renovation and to add 10 storey of freehold luxury residential apts which will be completed in 2 years. As Ow says, in the development of these apts, the land cost is free....i.e. higher profit margins. Another development which will commence in 2007 is a commercial, retail and residential projects at THE ROCKS (Gloucester St - GS). It will be completed in 2009. Under the Aust Accountancy laws, revenue and profits from prop development projects will only be booked upon completion of the project. Hence, we can expect a substantial increase in its revenue and profits for 3Q 2007 (31 Dec 2006) when it books in the SM project. With the NZ and the GS project, we can expect healthy revenue streams from it property development. Exchange risks.......A$ and NZ$ have been strenghtening against S$ over the past few months. Interest rates in NZ expected to be revised upwards soon and this will further strengthen the NZ$. FY 2006 (YE 31 Mar 06) eps was S 2.41cents. NAV @ 30 Jun 2006 - S 43cts (after decucting 3.0cts div) Sh price @ 23 Oct 06 - 31cts Historical PE - 12.86X, Yield - 9.68% (7.74% after tax) Disc on NAV - 28%. TA - Charts shows Acc/Dist, Chaikin and RSI all +ive. Williams also uptrend but not over bought yet. |
