Spain says will not seek international financial aid
PARIS : Spain's troubled economy will not follow Greece and Ireland in seeking international financial aid, Finance Minister Elena Salgado said in a newspaper interview published Monday. Following weeks of market turbulence triggered by fears that Spain could be next in line for a financial debacle, Salgado emphatically ruled out Madrid taking a bailout. "No", she told Les Echos business newspaper, "because our (economic) fundamentals do not justify it." Greece fell to major imbalances in its public accounts not only due to the crisis while Ireland's troubles "were caused by its banks," she added. She said that the Spanish fund to help restructure insolvent banks would be sufficient in case of large losses. "Its capacity is 99 billion euros, and only 11 billion has been mobilised so far. Given that the interest rate is seven percent, there is little risk that this facility will be used needlessly," said Salgado. In the wake of the Ireland rescue, driven by Dublin bailing out its insolvent banks, investors have begun to get more anxious about Spain's heavily indebted banks which were wounded by the bursting of the country's property bubble. Investors were not reassured by Spanish government statements that the country will be able to master its fiscal difficulties and relaunch growth, and drove up interest rates the state must pay to borrow to record highs. Even the European Commission expressed doubts last week about the Spanish government's ability to reduce its public deficit to 6.0 percent of gross domestic product next year from this year's target of 9.3 percent. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero then announced on Wednesday his government would sell 30 percent of the state-owned lottery, 49 percent of airport management company AENA, scrap a jobs subsidy and lower taxes on small- and medium-sized businesses. Coupled with stepped-up purchases by the European Central Bank at the end of last week, yields eased on Spanish government bonds. |

European bonds plan proposed amid eurozone crisis
LONDON: European leaders were urged on Monday to create a market for joint European government bonds in a bid to end the eurozone's mounting crisis, but the suggestion was met with German scepticism. Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the Eurogroup of eurozone finance ministers, and Giulio Tremonti, Italy's finance minister, called for the rapid introduction of "E-bonds," in a joint article in the Financial Times. As Europe's finance ministers meet in Brussels to try to secure the euro's future, Juncker and Tremonti urged the creation of the new bonds to send a message to markets and European citizens about "the irreversibility of the euro." The plan would lead to a "liquid global market for European bonds," they wrote, which would help protect countries from speculation and attract new capital flows into Europe. "We believe this proposal provides a strong, credible and timely response to the ongoing sovereign debt crisis," said Juncker -- who is also Luxembourg's prime minister -- and Tremonti. They said the European Council could take steps towards creating an agency to issue the bonds as soon as this month. But Germany, Europe's biggest economy, played down the chance "E-bonds" could be introduced any time soon, highlighting divisions in the eurozone over how to deal with the crisis gripping the single currency. German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said introducing such joint bonds in the eurozone would not be possible "without fundamental changes" in the European framework, in comments to the Financial Times. He added it was vital governments had incentives to maintain discipline over finances and faced sanctions when they did not, the FT reported. The eurobond proposal came ahead of a meeting of Europe's finance ministers in Brussels later Monday with the response mechanism to the wider eurozone debt crisis surrounded by doubts. Ireland's bailout is also endangered by domestic politics as the country's leaders prepare to try and push through an austerity budget, and there are growing fears Portugal could be in need of imminent aid. The ministers will seek to move from fire-fighting to securing solid future foundations for the eurozone at the December 16-17 EU summit. |

Whether a stock is a fireworks 'shooting star' or not is not for anyone to tell... Many factors, both known and unknown determines a stock's behaviour. Furthermore, Osim's badminton sponsorship status may help propel the company upward from here. Since are talking about Osim's lifestyle products, there's much potential for innovation... But ultimately, betting is still the way to go...

On OCBC i mentioned its going downtrend, however inexperienced novices (like yours truly included) should not read it as a call to short because not everyone who trades has the ability & fortitude for shorting in a bull market. But rather, see it as an opportunity to position yourself for reversal signal to go long. Want to short and not d.i.e? Do u hav the forte in charting skills, steely nerves, precision in recognising target price for entry & exits, advanced brokerage platform (setup) and undivided attention during the day when you hold open positions? OCBC is the leader in local banking sector, its down days aka black candle days are few and far between in a short term market correction. When one attempts to short by the 2nd or 3rd down day, the risks far outweighs rewards. When it turnaround from the last low, OCBC lept $0.30 (which is $300 per lot) intraday on the reversal day. Conversely, one who's shorting also stands to lose that much. If you're reading this teacher Bullish, hav i been a gd student? |

Do u hav any inkling how many Chinese manufacturers can come up with similar massage chair technology and retail much less than osim's pricing for top of the range product? No less inferior. Well having heavenly kings and Chi Lin in endorsements sure gives the company an edge. Then again, i can be wrong due to lack of sufficient research on this sector becos I don't closely follow counters which i'm not vested. Haha.. maybe osim's worth a try ipunter, u think?

Perhaps it's debut in Taiwan may see it go through a similar 'meteoric' rise? But much will depend on the creativity and resourcefulnes of the drivers behind Osim ... |

Hey, I am amazed you only think along limited local lines. This place and local market is merely a miniscule 'postage stamp' size, which, though extremely easy for anyone to manage, has only a limited market potential, unlike the huge markets elsewhere. And if Osim products can rise above the commonplace in terms of style and 'snob appeal' (like Apple products), the sky's the limit...

post taiwan listing, my suspect it should be down like YZJ.... cosco and yzj used to be hand in hand..... now the differences maybe because of dual listing.... if one market up and another market down... it is being drag down. Maybe BT can cover such a topic......

This shows the importance of valuing family values. If one or either party does not value the family as a family, greatest discord upon discord will build up to the point of breakage. It is thus important for all parties to value family ties as such...
