I guesse the new authorities will be very keen for his immediate family

      to account for any huge amounts of money, wealth, etc accumulated

          as a result of any abuse of their powerful rule for 30 years or more,

Everyone, wanted a pc--no matter how small, the cake is,  after waiting for 30 years, will it happen for next three years, what about 3 months and or in 3 weeks..?. Power has shift thou...it may take them longer to see the fruit, if they actually want the plant the seed and grow it. it political landscape will change as time pass, Will all Egyptian poor and rich  accept, will it  citizen be better off ??, so is not over yet.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, ending 30-years of rule, has resigned and handed over control of the country to the military, Vice President Omar Suleiman announced Friday.

The president " has decided to give up his position as president of the republic," Suleiman said on national TV, adding that the president had charged the higher military council to run affairs in the " tough circumstances that the country is passing through."

Car horns were heard around Cairo in celebration after Suleiman made the announcement on national TV on Friday.

Earlier Friday, a ruling party official told Reuters Mubarak and his family had left Cairo for the glitzy Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh where there is a presidential residence, adding that this proved that power had been handed to Suleiman.

Mubarak Is About To Give Another HUGE Speech, As Protesters Surround The Palace

10:46 ET: The top military spokesman has arrived at the state TV building.

 

10:25 ET: Mubarak is expected to speak in ten minutes, according to Egypt TV. (We're still waiting...)

10:16 ET: Protesters have just attacked a police station in Suez, with at least one killed and twenty injured, according to Al-Jazeera.

9:41 ET: The presidential palace is expected to issue a statement imminently, according to Al-Jazeera.

It seems unlikely he would resign already -- unless last night's speech was taped, and this is actually the first live speech in days. There's also a possibility that Omar Suleiman will speak, not Mubarak.

Meanwhile protesters are marching on the presidential palace, which is guarded by the army. They have also surrounded the state TV building, which is protected by barbed wire and machine guns. Previously the protesters had remained mostly in Tahrir Square.

The president and his family have fled to Sharm El Sheikh, according to Al Jazeera.
