Haha...'steady poon pee-pee' type ...maybe can go for SMRT or Comfort Delg. STE is good too (do well either in peace time or war). In fact I've switched from SingTel to STE. As regard to investment strategy in allocating of funds, I've none - always 100% in where I find the cash-cows. Of course I always have ready cash-in-hand just in case something cheap comes along; or else you can only watch and let it slips away - this valuable 'strategy' I learnt from my Grand-dad. Just sharing and not trying to be 'hao-lian' as some may perceived. Cheers! |

Thanks for your recommendation! Well appreciated! Not young animore so need to look at reducing higher risk investment on my portfoilio. These days for me its about steady poon pee pee stocks type. It was said that the risk appetite goes with age. Assuming we live till 90. At the age of 20, you can have up to 70% of your investment in high risk category for bigger gains. At 30, it will be 60% and at 40 it will be 50% and at 50, one should reduce to 40%. Seems like a cookie cutter thingy but may be hard to follow. hehe/ |

Yes Sir K i L r O y, you're rite about investment's style as "to each his own". I never find investment in stocks boring whether it is long term or short term. Yes, the fundamental of a Company will not change whether it is Bull or Bear. That's why for SingTel, it is in when the market is Bearish and out when Bullish and cash in on the sentiments of the Market. In the STock Markets, I believe that one cannot cash-out at the top - maybe once in a blue moon! As long as you keep on moving your cash to better finds and maximise your gains, you'll be more than ok! For tips sir, I'm now looking at Contruction Related Stocks like Asia Entp, Rotary etc....and I'm very bullish on STE and SembMarine; and punting on penny stock Frontline (maybe out on Monday 30jul). PLease check them out before any actions taken.... to each his own! Cheers! |

ten4one sir, Most people will say my investment style for stocks is very BORING. Whether BULL or BEAR, my principle for stocks of this characteristic are the same. Unless I do need the money, then will I cash out stocks like SINGTEL. I did a mistake with SPC which I cashed out thinking 3.80 and 4.40 was not a low price. Now both prices seems like a low price compared to now. hehe. 10% of my stock are 'punting stocks' which is not categorized under investment. This type of stocks I have to agree with you which is to go for quick capital gains in a BULL market. I have since SOLD them all and am here in SJ to listen and lookout for nice stocks to pun. *wink* any to recommend? To each his own lah huh so I do respect your decision as well. |

KiLrOy Dear Sir, In a Bull Market, forget about dividends and go for capital gains. When Mr Bear takes over, then go for dividends lah - much better yields pctg-wise! Cheers! |

Its SINGTEL bro ten4one! Once you have accumulated at a value price, NO NEED TO SELL. Just collect yearly dividend. if it drop back to SGD2.30 (which I hardly think it will for the next two years), I will be the first to BUY. :) |

TP SGD3.74? Lets see how it tackles 3.58 first. Breaking 3.58 will UNLOCK further TP. |

Target price: S$3.74 http://shareinvestors.blogspot.com/ Monday, July 23, 2007 Singtel Lauches IPTVLaunch of IPTV SingTel announced the launch of its pay TV service named mio TV on Friday (July 19, 2007). Mio TV offers 33 channels on ala carte pricing structure, subject to a minimum bill of S$16.05/month (including GST). This new service is targeted at public housing dwellers and existing SingNet broadband customers. This translates into service availability to 85% of residential homes in Singapore and going above 90% by early 2008. The service will require S$30m capex in the first year of operations, for network upgrades and roll-out of the IPTV platform. SingTel?s earlier capex guidance for Singapore operations of high single-digit level remains intact. Key features of the service: 1) A la carte pricing plan for 33 channels and Video on Demand (VOD) offerings subject to a minimum charge of S$16.05/month. ? The 33 channels comprise of 24 Linear Channels (7 are Free to Air channels) and 9 On Demand Channels (each On Demand Channel contains 20-25 movies). Each channel is sold separately. ? Customers have the option to subscribe for Linear Channels on a 1 month or 12 months basis, while On Demand Channels subscriptions are on a 1 month basis. ? VOD offers 6 movie genres which are sold on a pay-per-view basis. The VOD library has over 600 hours of content. 2) Free Digital High-Definition (HD)-Ready Set-Top box rental. This comes with an optional Digital Video Recording (DVR) feature which costs S$10.70/month. 3) Existing mio subscribers enjoy 5% discount on mioTV subscription. Comments No major surprises, it?s a niche strategy. As expected, SingTel is pursuing niche segments that complement StarHub?s existing offerings. A prime example is the Asian content and VOD segments. This is unlikely to lead to a price war in the near term, with both pay TV providers focusing on rational competition through differentiation. Asian-based content, VOD offerings and a la carte pricing structure are key strengths. We believe exclusive channel offering like Mei Ah Movies as well as VOD offerings would be primary pull factors for mioTV. The flexibility of the a la carte pricing structure should also help induce the price sensitive consumer segment to sign up. Without exclusive content, mioTV is unlikely to be a standalone success. We maintain our view that access to popular exclusive content (e.g. EPL, CNBC) is the key success factor for pay TV business. We believe that SingTel recognises this as well and views mioTV as strategic offering to boost the proposition of its bundled offering - mio. The early mioTV subscribers will most likely come from SingTel?s existing mio subscribers who will enjoy a 5% discount on mioTV. There were almost 14,000 mio subscribers as at end- March 2007. Business model unlikely to turn in profits for next five years. We believe that the business model suffers from a combination of two key disadvantages: (i) content with niche appeal in a small domestic market requires a longer period to accumulate critical mass; (ii) lack of exclusive content limits pricing power, i.e. low ARPU. If we assume mioTV needs a revenue base of around S$40-50m to break-even, it would need a subscriber base of 150,000-200,000 with ARPU of S$20. We reckon that it could take up to six years for mioTV to achieve that target subscriber base or a household penetration rate of around 15%. StarHub currently has around 490,000 subscribers and 45% penetration rate after 12 years in operation with exclusive content. Valuation and recommendation Maintain Neutral with unchanged target price of S$3.74. We reduce our earnings estimates by 1% for FY08-10 to account for expected losses from mioTV initiative. However, our SOP valuation remains unchanged at S$3.74 as initial losses are subsequently offset by accumulated profits in later years. We continue to expect SingTel?s associates to be its key earnings and valuation growth driver but we believe this is already baked in the current price. The lack of near-term catalyst is expected to prevent the stock from outperforming the STI for now. |

I agreed. Singtel had been my favourite stock. It had been moving up slowly these few years. Will move steadily up before XD. Dividend quite attractive. Prefer to hold long term. Cheers. Next 2 weeks will be interesting to see its performance..Heeheehee |

You would probably have known that Singtel is distributing its dividend very soon. I am not sure what you use for trading but in most trading watchlist screen be it streaming or non streaming, you will notice that there is a CD ( Cum Dividend ) indicated on the REM column. The term Ex-Dividend ( denotes as XD ) refers to the time a sholderholder is without a dividend. If you purchased Singtel stock AT or AFTER XD you will not be entitled to its dividend. The date for XD for Singtel is 7 AUG so if you purchase AT or AFTER 7 AUG, you will not be entitled to its dividend distribution. The dividend for this round is 0.16cts PER SHARE so if you have 10 LOTS (10000 shares), that means you will get a whopping 1600SGD. Based on 3.46 closing price, that would be approximately 4.6% in dividend yield for this round which is far greater then another SGD Cash FD (Fixed Deposit) or Money Market instrument on the SG market. |

hey Kilroy: I'm an arsenal fan thus i really hope that febregas do not make the switch man. Anyway yes, i would agree with u that singtel is in the sideway market. Anyway what is EX-dividend? As I am rather new in stocks. |

Will Febregas signs for R Madrid if Wenger decides to leave? Singtel is trading sideways (ranging) since the correction after 17 APR. I believe it will resume its last known trend after the ranging - upwards. This is my personal view. Yours may differ. EX-dividend is in AUG and thats one think you may need to consider your action. |
