. From bullish to bearlish! From "hit 18c soon" to "was a bubble at20c"! From "Market already factor in the POOR result" to "it could fall to around $0.12". Definitely, the -44.9% drop in profit despite great run in the NR price is having a negative impact!! I can see the fear! |

It was a bubble at $0.20. Which then burst. Hi timewatch. There's some support around $0.145 for GMG. But if Tokyo rubber futures fall to say 270 yen and below, it could fall to around $0.12. Tokyo rubber futures rose modestly on Fri, but remained under pressure from the yen's sharp rise against the dollar and a bearish technical chart. The benchmark rubber contract on TOCOM for Aug delivery rose 2.5 yen to 289.3 yen per kg at 3:45 p.m. Tokyo time. Rubber gained some support on supply concerns and from other commodities, such as gold and crude oil. US crude futures hit a record US$111 on Thu. But technical signals were still negative. "Sentiment has weakened, especially after the contract dropped below 290 yen yesterday," said Shuji Sugata, a manager at Mitsubishi Corp Futures and Securities. "Strong long liquidation emerged after it broke that level, which really hurt the technical trend," he added. On Thu, the Aug contract slipped to 283.1 yen - the lowest for a benchmark since Feb 7 and below the 100-day MA of 293.4 yen. The market is likely to test 282.2 yen - the low hit on Feb 7 - in the near term, Sugata said. Investment funds were also reluctant to take large positions in TOCOM rubber due to the yen's strength. On the physical front, rubber prices were quoted mostly unchanged as thin trade offset the small rises on TOCOM, but were expected to remain supported by low seasonal supplies, traders said. "It's Fri. Only key tyremakers are buying small lots of rubber, but China and small users are still on the sidelines, waiting for cheaper prices," a Malaysian trader said. |

The more bad comments you post, the more it shows how wrong you were in identifying GMG has a hidden gem. See GMG - Hidden Gem thread. Tokyo rubber futures fell on Thu as the yen's rise to a 12-year high against the dollar spurred selling, but oil prices at near record level and concerns about falling supply still supported them. The benchmark rubber contract on TOCOM for Aug delivery fell 11.2 yen to end at 284.5 yen per kg at 3:45 p.m. Tokyo t. Technical sentiment on TOCOM rubber was weak after the key contract failed to rise above 300 yen on Wednesday. A clear fall below 280 yen could pave the way for a slide towards 270 yen reached in Jan, traders said. They also said they were wary of taking large positions in yen-based rubber futures amid recent volatility of the yen. "But I don't expect a sharp fall on TOCOM if oil prices still hover near US$110 a barrel," one dealer said. High oil prices and concerns about physical supplies of rubber, especially from Indonesia, meant traders were reluctant to embark on aggressive selling. Supplies have fallen in Indonesia due to heavy rain, which has disrupted tapping. Unseasonal rain in Thailand has had little impact on the physical market as farmers do not usually tap at this time of year as it is too dry. In the physical market, rubber prices also dropped, but were were unlikely to fall sharply as limited seasonal supply and strong demand should provide support, traders said. |

Definitely not a good day for those vested in GMG. Volume shrink, price drop 3.5% and US$ continue to weaken. The weakening of the US$ will definitely remind them of the main reason for the 44.9% drop in profit. |

Only 60 lots done after 2 hours of trading. Look like the 44.9% drop in profit has a negative impact on the trading sentiment on this counter. |

The daily rubber prices have enabled shplayer to punt. Others not so smart may not benefit. The profit warning had already caused GMG to plunge to $0.09. The poor results have already been factored in as you can see that $0.09 has not been re-visited. Rubber futures on TOCOM continued to draw mixed interest Tue afternoon with the bellwether contract on a weak bias. The benchmark, most distant Aug '08 contract traded at 294.9 yen per kg at 3:45 p.m. Tokyo time, down 0.4 yen from Mon. |

Aisei!!!!....why quarrel over what ppl post or don't post? All posts are welcome; all opinions are welcome......hopefully there will be differring opinions so that we all benefit from it. So what if the 44% drop in YoY profit is due to Fx, lower production output or rubber prices....or all of these factors. It is up to the readers to disseminate the information and make theri own decision choices on investment. I have found GMG a particularly good counter to punt. Each 1/2c bid is about 3% move.....whcih makes it ideal for scalping. Track rubber price movements to get an indication of near term price trends and act accordingly. All those who have contributed in this thread, keep it up......no need to get worked up if others opinions differ. Make $$$ first. |

strongbull, If you're not interested in reading, you can always don't come to this thread or any thread where I post. Tokyo rubber futures fell 1% to a one-month low on Mon as the strengthening yen and general commodity sell offs prompted investment funds to cut positions in rubber. The benchmark rubber contract on TOCOM for Aug delivery fell 1.7 yen at 293.2 yen per kg at 3:45 p.m. tokyo time . It fell as low as 290.5 yen, the lowest since Feb 8. The key contract also slipped below the 100-day MA, which was at 292.8 yen on Mon, for the first time since Jan 24. "Selling pressure is increasing since dropping below 300 yen, with overall falls in other commodities depressing sentiment," said analyst Jun Nishimuta of Kanetsu Asset Management in Tokyo. "But the market is strong fundamentally and the distant contract should find support around 270 and 280 yen due to concerns over supplies." In the physical market, rubber prices were quoted lower in line with falling TOCOM prices, a drop expected to lure buyers back to the market, traders said. "But I don't expect physical prices to drop as much as paper prices because tight supply should provide support," one said. Supply in Thailand is tight as farmers in the south, which produces around 90% of the country's 3 million tonnes annual production, have stopped tapping during the dry season, when rubber trees produce less latex. Farmers would resume tapping in late Apr. In Indonesia, supply is down during the rainy season, when tapping is disrupted frequently. |
