News update...meanwhile...Gaddafi  and  family  is bend on seeking bloody revenge. (Revenge is a harmful action against a person or group in response to a grievance, be it real or perceived)Libyan envoy in Europe, Misrata described as " hell" Reuters - 47 minutes ago
Brega /  Athens (Reuters) - A Libyan envoy was in Europe on Monday seeking to end the oil-producing country's bloody civil war that has become locked in a battlefield stalemate  …  More  » Beyond a willingness to talk, there was no sign of what Libya might offer to end the war that is bogged down on a frontline around the eastern oil town of Brega, while civilians are bombarded by Gaddafi forces. Misrata, a Turkish ship that sailed into the besieged city to rescue some 250 wounded under protection of Turkish warplanes had to leave in a hurry after thousands pressed forward on the dock. It is expected to reach Cesme in Turkey on Tuesday night. Another aid ship operated by charity Medecins Sans Frontieres docked in the Tunisian port of Sfax carrying 71 wounded people from Misrata, many with bullet wounds and broken limbs and one whose face was completely disfigured by burns. Wounded refugees from the town said a massacre was taking place, with one describing the situation as " hell" . " Imagine, Gaddafi use tanks  killing civilians and  is prepared to kill everyone there. I am thinking of my family." " I could live or die but I am thinking of my family and friends who are stranded in the hell of Misrata," said a tearful Abdullah Lacheeb, who had serious injuries to his pelvis and stomach and a bullet wound in his leg. " CORPSES IN THE STREET" Omar Boubaker, a 40-year-old engineer with a bullet wound to the leg, said: " You have to visit Misrata to see the massacre by Gaddafi ... Corpses in the street. The hospital over-flowing." Misrata, Libya's third city, rose up with other towns against Gaddafi's rule in mid-February, but it is now surrounded by  Pro-Gaddafi troops.  Govt officials deny attacking civilians in Misrata, saying that they are fighting armed gangs linked to al Qaeda. Al Jazeera television said on Monday that Gaddafi forces had bombarded Misla oil field in eastern Libya. Misla, operated by the eastern-based Arabian Gulf Oil Company (Agoco) which is under rebel control, lies in the desert 400 km (250 miles) south of the rebel-held town of Ajdabiyah. Stalemate on the frontline, high-level defections from Gaddafi's inner circle and the plight of civilians caught in fighting or facing food and fuel shortages have prompted a flurry of diplomatic contacts to find a way out. One diplomat cautioned, however, that any diplomatic compromise -- for example one in which Gaddafi handed over power to one of his sons -- could lead to the partition of Libya. " Various scenarios are being discussed," said the diplomat. " Everyone wants a quick solution." The U.N.-mandated military intervention, in which warplanes have attacked Gaddafi's armour, radars and air defences, began on March 19 Neither the Gaddafi troops nor the mostly disorganised rebel force have been able to gain the upper hand on the frontline, despite the Western air power in effect aiding the insurgents. |

Getting organized--discipline and co-ordination improving for  pro-democracy fighters to gain some momentum. http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2011/03/2011331142051984358.html Al Jazeera's Sue Turton, reporting from the frontlines of the battle to reclaim Brega from pro-Gaddafi forces, said that overnight NATO air strikes allowed the " They sent spotters out on the flanks before moving a unit forward," Turton said. " It worked for a while before the more excitable rushed forward." She said, Gaddafi's forces reacted swiftly. " Mortars obliterated one car and damaged two others. These rookie soldiers are learning the hard way," Turton reported. Pro-democracy fighters and forces loyal to Gaddafi have been fighting across a strip of land between Ajdabiya and the town of Bin Jawad for weeks.
This video posted on Facebook  shows rebels celebrating after one of Gaddafi's tanks was destroyed in the streets of Misurata. Earlier, Misurata reportedly came under heavy attack from Gaddafi's forces.

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/probing-libyan-killings-icc-support-turning-point-20110328-070634-483.html News update--Probing Libyan killings, ICC support at turning pointAMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The upheaval in the Arab world and the U.N. Security Council's referral of Libya could mark a pivotal shift in support for the International Criminal Court, reinforcing its " real time" role in delivering justice. The world's first permanent war crimes court has battled a lack of state support, with global powers such as the United States, Russia and China refusing to sign up, while some African states have been reluctant to carry out arrests. Elsewhere, Arab and other Muslim states have been suspicious of the court, concerned that it was a tool of western justice. But all this is starting to change. Amnesty International called the unanimous Security Council referral of Libya's violent crackdown on pro-democracy protests to the ICC an " historic precedent" . it was the first time the United States and China voted to send a case to the court. |

Latest update from.... http://blogs.aljazeera.net/live/africa/live-blog-libya-march-22 2:20pm Al Jazeera correspondent James Bays just gave us a report from the desert around nine kilometres north of Ajdabiya, as far as our team there was able to go (they came under missile attack 300 metres farther down the road earlier today).
Forces loyal to Libyan leader Gaddafi have shelled Misurata, pressing their siege of the embattled western city. Four children were killed in the shelling on Tuesday, a resident named Mohammed Ahmed told the Reuters news agency. The children were  killed while trying to flee their home,  a rebel spokesman told Al Jazeera. Gaddafi's regime has encircled Misurata for days,  bringing in tanks and stationing snipers on rooftops,  in an attempt to choke off one of the only cities in the west where a strong rebel presence remains. Shelling there killed at least 40 people on Monday, Ahmed said. Misurata lies around 200km east of Tripoli, the capital, and is home to a major oil refinery. Libyan govt spokesman Ibrahim said Misurata, Libya's third-largest city, was " liberated three days ago" and that forces were hunting " terrorist elements" . |
