You shouldn't trade based on Oversold and Overbought conditions alone. They just mean that the current price is relatively higher or lower when compared to its recent 14 day price history. A stock can remain oversold or overbought for some time before changing direction. So you should combine these indicators with other TA indicators like Accumulation/Distribution. |

Dear Guru, May I check if the shares indicated Overbought or Oversold should we trade on such share. What is the consequences when the shares are in an 'overbought' or 'oversold' situation. Sorry, learning as I move along on trading of shares. Over the years, I only follow the crowd in the market, get in and out, losing a lot of money without knowing TA and FA existence. People throw, I take, that's why I ended as a 'failure in investing'. thanks. |

Hi HenryAng570, I'm glad that you're in positive territory now. I'm still negative.... just hope that the coming financial window dressing period will help me push it up to postive gains. |

Dear all, it would be a good time to take intermediate stock of our portfolio porformance. It also good to see which cat catches more mice ..... black or white - since the FED rate has inspire a general rebound - in the short-term at least. Before that a short story. Once where was a brilliant young man wishes to learn skill of an wise old sage. He visited the sage and during the initial reception, the sage served him tea. Young brilliant man was amazed as he noticed that the sage continued to pour tea into his cup though it was already long overflow. Young Man asked: "master, why do u continue to pour into my cup though it has been overflown?" Wise Sage: "Look, why you arrived, your are already overflown with your own ideas. No new ideas can get in unless you empty your cup" before new ideas can get in ....... Earlier, we discussed any strategy will do as long as you make money? I think some strategy work better than others ...... We can only pick up new ideas when we are prepared to let go of our own - sometimes...... I have benefitted from many of your contributions. Thanks to whoever raise the awareness on Sp Ships ... SMRT .... This two counters has turned my overall performance into positive. Gain about 5% now with another about 8-10K dividends on the way ........ plus averaging approach. ........... |

HenryAng570, Re your post today @1411hrs, SpShip 12cts div is not taxable...i.e, you get the full 12cts. Note: on xd, share price will usually correct ....one reason is cos NAV will be reduced after div payout. |

Hi Henry, you are absolutely right. If SSP is taxable then instead of $1200, it should be $960 [i.e. $1200 less $240(20%)]. Have a good day! |

Hi Alice, if you have 10lots it should be $1200 [1 share is $0.12c, 1000 shares is $120.00, 10000 shares is $1200.00] and since tax exmpt, it's without tax. That means, you will receive $1200 and nothing less. Cheers! |

Alice hi, another way of looking at it .... if you buy at 54 cts, 12 out of 54 cts is 22%! excluding possibility of capital gain (loss?). I think the dividend is still before tax. if after tax, i think is 9.6 divide by 54 = more than 17% ! That is why one member said literally he paid nothing for the shares after collecting all the dividends over the year. This show the importance of dividend track record as far as I am concern. |

Market go up in escalator ,down in lift. It's very difficult to cut lost. I average down and lost badly. Learn from mistake. It's better to average up.The greed, fear and hope all over again. |

Sp Ships dividend is 12 cents. Does that means $12.00 per 1000 share. If I've 10K lots, I shall receive $120. that means out of $535, I'm getting a 2.24%, better than bank interest rate of about $500. |

Scotty hi, for me there are a few types of Co / Industry I am unlikely to buy in even though the capital gain can be big:
Type of Co i prefer are Co with strong bal sheet, tracks records of dividends, price to book ratio, provide essential services better still, transparent. Will not hesitate to do averaging: Co like:
So, it is not gussing ..... must have strong basis ..... Sure, sometimes it go wrong ....... overall, the result shows whether it work or not. Today, I still have a net gain (less than 2%) plus possibility of 10K dividends in a month or two. I think is not too bad in this type of market - very difficult conditions..... This is my viewpoints only ............. |

Agreed with all. Ting Xiao Ping said: "it doen't matter if the cat is black or white as long as it catches mice." As long as you make money, who cares about the method. Yes, it is not scientific. I bought courage marine IPO price at 22 cents. Down to 15 cents. If i continue to hold without doing anything, I will be sitting on losses. by averaging, exited with gain. STX Po, by averaging exited with a greater loss! ........ Personally, over time, averaging ön good counter only, the return is greater. If you don't believe, u can try it out. if you are down today by 30% today, and if u do nothing, it will take a while before u can recover. If u average, u have better chance. Anyway, to each his own..... as long as you make money ....... |

In this forum, there are many share investors/traders who apply different strategies. Some believe in averaging down, some in cutting losses, etc. There is no hard and fast or scientific rules. As the chinese saying goes: "Ba Xian Guo Hai, Ge Xian Shen Tong" I have a friend, a housewife, who is trading shares for the last twenty over years. She applies her own simple "loss-no-sale" rule. She probably has a million dollars in stocks and will never sell shares (no matter how long she has to hold them) without making money. Every year, she makes about 10 to 15% of her capital. Not bad for a resolute housewife who does not know the difference between hardware, software and tupperware! |
