1st and foremost, we can start by encouraging him by putting up our signature to the petition (I've done that). The large nos will encourage him in due time. Being elected by the people as an independent President as opposed by one nominated by the establishment will send a very strong signal politically. As oppose to being an MP, the impact will be limited since there is no party machinery backing or even a semblance of a group of opposition MPs in Parliament. TKL will be out voted & ignored politically. As president even in a ceremonial role, he is entitled constitutionally to voice out as his office is independent from the Government. I don't mind to share my views much as I don't like the single party political situation in Singapore, I believe we are a small country and everything is easily tackled by the political leaders, whether it be social or political problems. Thus a change is therefore not likely going to happen anytime now or in the near future owing to our small population and the tight grip by the present political agility exhibited against all challenges. We have seen much of these and they were always well settled. A change of leadership can only happen when the Singapore leaders intentionally or unintentionally make grave mistakes that the world can never forgive and only with that kind of global upheavals can probably catalyst a change. Otherwise, I think the status quo is going to be long lasting. |

Dun forget it is not up to the Ministers to say singapore should have what or what. It is the PEOPLE who gave them the power decide singapore should have 2 political parties or not. I think dominance for too long as made some leaders aloof and untouched with the commoners hardship just like the US 3 Auto CEOs.

Seriously, politics for newcomers or aspirants of political office in Singapore is rather a "taboo". I think TKL happens to be dealing with a public issue and not a political issue. If viewing his public spiritedness as politics, we should categorise it to be just accidental and not intentional. But if he has the blessings of politicians in power, think would be good. But PM just warned recently, it is difficult to have 2 parties right? Such statements itself might not find favours with politicians if with commoners. | ||||||||||

Personnally. I do not know Y Y, tell me why, he is given sooo..much space and even headlines by SPH, knowing SPH is control what...puzzling me lehh, somemore headlines said Ganes enufff...i think he is very brave at this poimt in times, but now seem abit quite down a little liao.

Yeah sad to say he is already being fixed by sph (i suspected) from the way sph published the other ppl letters which condem him and not those letter that support him. sad to say he is the best presidential candidate if we compared to those clowns that tried to register for presidents in the past. I seriously have him over a president that listen only to govt instead of the plea of the ppl. Up to now, our "BELOVED" president have not speak up anything for/against the holders of the minibonds. great for someone who is paid $3 million + per yr.

Should we have someone like Mr Tan, so brave to stand up for Singapore, it is Bços someone has often misjudge our 1st class citizen as children, oni to be told and listen oni. sad to said so y we are having to survive on cutting our very own salary lower by 3% and their by 20%...nonsense, they very easy survive even with a dollar a year salary. |

Singapore is unique in one way or another. We manage our Nation in the way that is best for its survival. We've built an infrastructured that other Nations admire. We're the only Nation that required a COE in order to buy a car, motor cycle, etc. Our road pricing system is one that others want to copy and of course, our public housings too. And now we're going to have the cleanest Loos and learn to be gracious.....Goosh I could go on and on......... ! MP & NMP. how much they earn even they cbl. President is equally the same, cbl. So, rather be president as they all equally cbl, but reward higher and only one year got one day suffer only, stand rain or shine during National Day when playing our national country song "Majula Spore". As some world media in "oberseas newspaper" said, a small country in asia, that has most number of MP in the cabinet as compare to the ratio of population ! So think through, do we need so many ministers and Mp and NMp, all the same one la, as compare to last one Andrew Kwan, before he goes campaigning for election, quickly silent him off! I hope I did not offend anyone here, if not later kena charge or jail, this is just my own remark ! Not offend anyone here, I hope so. As what is cbl, anyone go to army, they should learn this term, very useful term !!! |

TKL is already 60. How long n how much more has he to offer? how long can last if were to climb up a few HDB blocks or step down a few HDB block..very tiring leh, next day where got more strength to give speech or meet the people's secession. need power to talk n even more powerful leg to walk. he got brain, he got vision, whatever he do..i support n wish him all the best, still been a P is better, shake, shake hand here, shake, shake there...maybe 1 2 be better on one upmanship, can setup or donate those million to worthing causes..plenty here, cancer society, Children cancer society, NKF, children pocket fund,....many, n can go down into history as a 1st, after all he took bus/ MRT, operating cost is very low to him, maybe have to spend some $$$ to upgrade his computer to a more powerful machine that run faster and don't get hung up

Now he got plenty of chances to talk, when been a P, there isin't a chances so long as someone is....err again cannot mentioned leh, where got a S'pore P behave like ah beng, been that, say for one term n cannot say this or do this n cannot say that or do that, he can once again become a common man n fight for ordinary people's, his talent or vision is reconsize whether his a P or ajust an ordinary citizen. | ||||||||||
