economics explained in a simple story... And this is how the story goes... It's a slow day in some little town. The sun is hot, the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich tourist from back west is driving thru town. He stops at the motel and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill at the feed store. The guy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her services on credit. She, in a flash rushes to the motel and pays off her room bill with the motel owner. The motel proprietor now places the $100 back on the counter so the rich traveler will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, picks up the $100 bill, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money & leaves. Now, no one produced anything...and no one earned anything...however the whole town is out of debt and is looking to the future with much optimism. And that, ladies and gentlemen is precisely how the Government is conducting business today!? Have a great week and try to look to the future with optimism. |

7.5 cents less 5 cents cash distribution effectively wud cost a new investor 2.5 cents which appears tempting. But then why there are currently abt 1 million shares queueing to sell at 7.5 cents only? Why are these sellers not waiting for the 5 cents cash distribution? Resolution Passed.. http://www.sgx.com/wps/portal/marketplace/mp-en/home... check out the results of the EGM held earlier.. In the letter to shareholders, it was mentioned that the payout should be completed in June 10. |

Share placement completed. Time to push up the share price... The Board of Directors of Thakral Corporation Ltd (the “Company”) refers to the Company’s announcement on 15 December 2009 in relation to the notification of share placement by substantial shareholder (announcement no. 00025) and wishes to inform that Venture Delta Limited (“VDL”) has updated the Company that their placement agent, CIMB–GK Securities Pte. Ltd., has entered into agreements for the placement of a further 340,000,000 shares of the Company owned by VDL at a price of S$0.03 per share on an ex-distribution basis after capital reduction. A total of 536,000,000 shares (comprising the aforementioned 340,000,000 shares and the 196,000,000 shares referred to in the Company’s announcement on 15 December 2009) of the Company owned by VDL have been placed out under placement agreements as at 30 December 2009. I do not understand VDL's intention but have put my faith in the chairman's foresight --- based on cash alone , it is worth more than current 8cts...and it is profitable .. so more upside.. | ||||||||||||||||||

Thakral family do it mainly for control of the company, secondly use the 5c distribution to buy share at 3c cheaply. The minority share-holders can only benefit from the second reason only if the share price will rise. HLA got felt-up with them as Thakral share is always icbc type. | ||||||||||||||||||

You are right if you view in this light -- if they do not need to undertake to place out the 550mil shares, they can keep the money for other purposes too.. I guess the placement exercise has to be completed at certain time frame.. |

Looks like the Thakral family will get 5c from their own shares to pay the 3c to major shareholder's shares. So Thakral family will not have come out any cash, in fact got extra cash.

No. Thakral did not get the 5 cts distribution for the placement shares.
