Wow... Singaporegal... You are truly our "Gu Piao Da Jie Jie"... :) This first rule is the most important rule. First rule means it is the most important rule of all. It is the rule of rules. And it should rule all actions in the risky stock market, which is why there are rules to follow. And if this rule is not obeyed, the outcome is so predictable. |

Do careful investment and do not always bet on emotion...Have a plan and always review your portfolio...Betting on shares and doing investment is just a 'Line' apart...It all depends on individual...

I don't believe in luck. If I feel lucky then I try Toto:).I have switched to being a long term investor now:). So trading for me is quite minimal.

iewsh88, Hi, It all boils down to GREED. A friend of mine, lost a house through playing shares. That man mortgaged his semi-D to buy more shares. When the market crash came, he was in trouble.

I read somewhere that Singapore has around 120,000 active investors. I also read somewhere that 90% of all investors lose money. Putting 2 and 2 together, it makes sense to say that at least 108,000 people have lost money in the stock market to varying degrees. The key to survival in the stock market is discipline and a strategy for cutting loss. |

Hi all SJ Members, Sunday's (11-3-2007) New Paper published an article on how Engineer Chan lost $700,000.00 trading stocks all within 3-months. This is another casualty in equities trading. It may be just the tip of the iceberg. I believe there are hundreds if not thousands of Singaporeans who lost money in the stock market. To say that only inexperienced players get burnt is an understatement. Savvy players are also known to get burnt. The New Paper ask, "Is the stock market like a casino for unseasoned players, where luck is their biggest chip?" What are the views of SJ Members? |
