Singaporegal says... [ " Hi lewsh88, Actually I read a few TA books. I liked Larry Williams the best because its approach was very different. Instead of just telling you what each chart did blah blah blah.... Larry Williams was the first TA book that TAUGHT me how to apply the charts in combination with each other. Even more valuable was that he also gave his OPINIONS on what works and what doesn't from his years of TA experience...." ] This book obviously is Gal's bible for life!... :) Long-Term Secrets to Short-Term Trading by Larry Williams |

Hi lewsh88, Actually I read a few TA books. I liked Larry Williams the best because its approach was very different. Instead of just telling you what each chart did blah blah blah.... Larry Williams was the first TA book that TAUGHT me how to apply the charts in combination with each other. Even more valuable was that he also gave his OPINIONS on what works and what doesn't from his years of TA experience. I have also read FA books before and I'm familiar with the standard teachings of long term investment. I just don't use them in my trading. |

taybc1071... I've never attended any course at all. I only learn through books. .. :) To me, although I agree that reading just one book is enough for to become an expert, I'll prefer to read a thousand, simply because it'll help me to acquire an more insightful wider appreciation and also gain a certain depth in my understanding, which definitley cannot be achieved by just owning one or two books. The best deligent traders in the world have invariably read virtually every book in print and also those already long out of print. Their comments are certainly more valuable for the benefit of others. |

Thanks lewsh88 for sharing. I note that you are vested mostly in blue chip stocks. Your strategy in investing must be good as I have read in your earlier posts that you have turned losses into profits. I am also learning to trade more into blue chips now - recently bought into SPH, ST Engrg, Comfort. I also punt a bit.... recently bought PDC Corp at 6 cents and now trading at 9 cents. It should continue to chiong next week... I am still learning and have not found the best strategy for myself.... |

Hi rickytan, Yes. I attended the 12th intake. Quite interesting. The course is good for beginners and is helpful for very discipline people. No. I have not practice what I learnt, due to laziness, time constraint and indiscipline. I trade mostly counters that I am familiar with such as Hyflux, Sembcorp, SPC, SPH, Ezra, Osim, Cosco, ST, Comfort, SMRT,. I buy when I feel that the price is quite low. If prices go down further after I bought in, I hold, some counters as long as three years. Unless it is a really lousy stock, usually the price will go up in time. Law of nature: What goes up will come down and vice versa. I make about 10 to 15% plus dividends. Quite good. Better than putting my money in the bank. Personally, I feel that patience and holding power is important in trading if one is not TA or FA savvy. Knowing a bit of TA/FA is no use - "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". Trading based on listening to tips (lobang) or following the herd is dangerous. I learnt in the course: "Avoid chat room chatter". How true, I lost quite a lot of money doing that. I have paid my expensive school fees! Cheers. |

Hi skipper: I believe singaporegal only read one or two books by Larry Williams and she is now like a TA consultant to us. The lesson learnt is: Mastering one or two books is enough. You may get confused with too many books and maybe even lose money with misprints. Happy tading. |

hahaha... Yup,Giantlow... I am actually somewhat honoured about your mention... Hi Skippy (been skipping, huh? :)... I am so happy to know you are ardently raring to go to learn more about the stock market. That's the way to go, man. Although you can by all means treat the stock market as a casino, and it's a good one, provided you can afford the luxury of treating it as such, it is alway wise for the rest of us to cultivate as much knowledge as possible about the damned beastly monster. When you lose money, you will know what I mean. Below is my own Amazon link where you can find all the world's stock market books you will love. Starting your own stock market library is the best way to learn in addition to all the friendly tips from friends. Treat each book not as a book, but as a teacher. And every teacher has something good to offer. When you are old, if you will still find endless joy in your library of books. But I know there are people who hate books , so I hope you are not one of those. I think we should all love books... :) A Long List of Stock Market Books. |

I'm a real newbie. I would like to learn more about trading. I notice TA and RA fundamentals being mentioned all the time in reasoning your trading philosophies. There are so many books written on this subject. Can someone point me to books I can read to learn more about this. It's a pleasure reading your posts. Real learning experience. Thank you. |
