Deutsche Bank downgrades Synear Food to Sell from Hold, cuts target price to $0.35 from $0.45. Says China-based frozen food maker faces prospect of declining sales, stronger raw material cost pressures, weak ramp-up in production capacity for new plants. Lowers FY08-10 net profit forecasts 10%-20% to reflect reduced earnings visibility. Notes staff turnover as high as 50% at company''s Huzhou plant, while labour costs +20% on-year so far for 2008.

Congrats...it's always sweet to have $$ in the pocket. As for me, I am still stuck with 44¢ entry, going for the long haul. I cannot determine it will come down to 45¢ from 50¢. But as current gyration, I will ignore. Cheers!

Why do you think financial analysts work? They are sure to get their pay.Whereas playing the stock market, you win some and you lose some.Like in the legal profession, you are paid whether you win or lose. Cheers

don't really trust these major financial firms already...their credibility had dipped a big chunk...these big firms themselves have major troubles...and also any time they like, they upgrade and downgrade...as and when the time changes...very much inaccurate most of the time...tt's my personal view only

JP Morgan's previous DCF-based, Dec-08 PT was $1.30. They change their valuation methodology from DCF to P/E; DCF valuation is distorted due to small value over the forecast period, which results in a disproportionately large terminal value. They value Synear with a new Jun-09 PT of $0.35 using 7x 12-month forward P/E, which is equal to 0.5x 12-month forward PEG given a 14% net profit CAGR over '08-10. Key risks are lower advertising and promotion expenses and better capacity utilization in new plants. |

tchoonw, your call for short yesterday at 50¢ is too early to determine right or not. Assuming you are holding CFD and short yesterday @50¢, see if you are making a neat profit in a week time.... it can go down and up from here. Beside there will be a lot of ppl coming out to call for buy/sell, who to follow...hehehe. I think it's best follow your own intuition and invest on your own finding, not deter by all the remarks, not even those analysts' reports.

JP wishes to collect cheap isit? SYNEAR was doing the "slow death" from 72¢ during April to June 43¢ and they price SYNEAR now at 35¢. Will they come out 2 weeks later and announce due to pork price dropping, and Olympic around the corner, will boost business and set TP at 85¢...hehehe. 16/5 08 – SBI-E2 Capital upgraded SYNEAR to buy TP 70¢ ...price went down from 54.5¢ 16/5/08 – Deutsche Bank cuts target price to S$0.45 from S$0.83...price went down from 54.5¢ 28/5/08 – CIMB on said technical buy TP 60¢...price went down from 53¢ 18/6/08 – No reports ..price went up from 45¢ 19/6/08 – JP Morgan cuts, TP 35¢.....we will see the outcome 1 week later UP or DOWN. So now, which one to follow...all these reports came out just 4 weeks ago....hehehe!!! |

Synear will be sold down on this. Synear Food fell after JP Morgan cut its investment rating to "underweight" from "overweight". JP Morgan issued a price target of $0.35 for the firm, citing stronger growth in its competitors and margin pressures. "We are now more concerned about its market position in China's fast frozen food segment given its weaker growth in sales compared to major competitors and the increase in advertising and promotion expenses," said the bank in a research report. "We believe this increase in expenses will put more pressure on Synear's margin. We see no signs of margin relief in the near future," it said. |

Does that mean our resident shortist is in favour to buy dumplings...hehehe!! Yah, you can say food business is recession proof. Got Olymic or not ppl needs to eat, however may not eat dumpling all the time... Now rely much on the company's FA and its vision. TA wise, limited downside (my view oni). Good luck folks

Why short the dumpling? It's giving discount today and we should buy in more rather than short. Opened 47¢, how far can you short?

I have watch this counter's behaviour for quite a while now. It usually surge a big deal and settle down before moving higher in a trend reversal. So this is the sign of bottoming @42¢-43¢ and we should see higher in the coming days. Watch out for all S-shares, might just carry on the match upward together. SSE is down but s-share is up...because they are all in the oversold zone. Will settle down once hit fair value for all counters. Good luck folks...cheers!
