tax incentives??? pls lah...all these only benefit the rich....i would rather pay tax than having another baby....cost of living is so high...what is 1k or 2k tax against thousands of dollars spent per year on kids? ....1st kid 3k....frequent visit to the gynae already cant see the money liao..let alone its paid quarterly... sigh...

Hahaha, so, when you are about to make baby, you have to send signal to income department? The only solution is get those young women who are willing to get be surrogate mother, pay them to produce babyies for singapore. But, they must be checked first if they are free from diseases..... This is another business opportunity if our governmment is ok to have such policy passed during next election..... Shall we suggest that huh?

in japan, low birth rate, some suggested polygamy may help... in singapore, there is tax incentives for children... maybe next time they should have that or even rebates for "attempts" in making babies ....

What do you mean by don,t worry??? The gahman is oso worry & concerned. That's why they are trying very hard to wipe out loansharks.Can they do it? The casino is already here. The gambling will happen whether it is good or bad. What worries me is the social implications ie, the crime rate, the broken families, the suicides, the loan shark problems, the effect to productivity in our labour force, the emotional problems like depressions and compulsive gambling, etc. Is Singapore ready for it and the changes that it will definitely bring vis a vis above to our shores? I know there will be some who will say gambling is already available here daily like Toto, 4D, horse racing, football betting, etc. But with a casino open 24/7 with its bright lights, that will surely be like blood to a vampire! If it is far away and costly to get there, that in itself is a deterrant. I would hate for Singapore to become unsafe to walk after midnight like alot of countries..... |

I think those aunties and uncles who are currently travelling up to Genting or going on those cruise to gamble won't mind paying $100 for Genting entrance fees. In addition, when we were at Genting Highlands in Dec, there are alot of locals who take out a stack of MYR10,000 to gamble.Alot of people really put in big stakes eg. SGD100 each time so there are such people around. Initially I felt hat exchange difference will be a issue but it works both way, you lose big or you win big with exchange. |

Sorry, yummygd is not penny wise pound foolish as she did say in her post, going genting cost her $600-700 whereas singapore is cheaper and neednt travel. Anyway, there are many singaporeans who like to go to casino genting. Not all people bring their whole coffin money to gamble and lose. It just only the pleasure. So no point harp on the entrance fee which we cant decide, but i believe many people will buy their membership instead travelling to Genting malaysia or macau which already cost them the travelling fee which their main purpose is going to casino. Some people just go for a pleasure which i agree while some really gamble and break family. So all have to depend on ownself character.

haha but time is money also have you thought of that....the time taken sitting in the bus can use it to earn money...if for example you are worth 10 per min you know how much you lost just by sitting in the bus doing nothing but waiting to come home. Sure you might think that paying 5 6 hundred to Genting malaysia is like going on a holiday if you think it like that ok lor but if your main objective is to gamble pay the 100 dollars and go in and get to it and get out hahaha. plus atm there charge extra to get money out here dun need. you can save 4, 5 hundred and use that towards gambling haha and lose to singapore genting and help its earnings and share price go up and guess what win win situtation hahahahaha if lost till limo come fetch you home ermmm.....better dun la

Genting: Waiting for the green light Summary: Genting Singapore (GS) arranged for a group of analysts yesterday to tour its new integrated resort Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), which recently had a soft opening with four hotels. The casino floor is already fully decked out with just under 500 gaming tables and some 1300 new slot machines. We understand that GS is now only waiting for the authorities to issue the casino license and it will be able to open its doors to the public within a couple of days of securing the license. Similarly for its theme park, GS is in the process of putting on the final touches to the attractions; and once it receives the green light, GS should be able to open its rides to the public within a week. In line with the overall market, the share price has corrected sharply over the past few days. However, with the imminent opening of its casino and theme park, we believe these developments will again provide a positive catalyst to share price performance.
