Heavy trading in the afternoon and price surged. Looks like the momentum will carry forward to Monday. Breaking $0.50 should not be a problem, I think. | |

It plans to build a copper refinery and manufacturing plant next to its existing recycling and processing plant in Tuas. Construction is expected to commence in Dec 06 and complete by Dec 07. It is targeted to achieve an annual production capacity of 36,000 tonnes in 3 years, from the time construction is completed. This would contribute to earnings growth in FY08. Copper prices have risen considerably over the past few years and are expected to remain at a high level. Adv SCT is expected to benefit from this trend. DMG has a price target of $0.64. |

IT will see a sharp surge in earnings in the current year to June 2007 as it recognizes a full-year contribution from newly-acquired unit Green World (GW), Advance's chief operating officer Samuel Ang told XFN-Asia in an interview. GW is mainly involved in the recycling and trading of ferrous scrap metal. Advance completed the acquisition on August 30. Ang noted that after just one-month's consolidation of GW's operations, Advance's revenue surged more than three fold to $114.82m in the year to June 2006. However its net profit for the term fell 12% to $3.66m due to the absence of a $1m goodwill gain that had inflated its earnings the previous year. GW posted $3.09m net profit for the first half to June 2006 with revenue of $203.56m. "Even if both companies maintain their profitability, on a proforma basis, we are looking at about $9m in net profit (if GW's results were annualized)," Ang said. "It will surge a lot more (going forward)," he added. Following the acquisition of GW, Advance has restructured its business to focus on two core segments - testing & finishing services and recycling & supply chain management. Ang said that in the last financial year, recycling & supply chain management accounted for 90% of its total revenue. He said this contribution will grow following the acquisition. Meanwhile, Ang said that Advance can also expect extra gains of roughly $3.3m from the reverse takeover by GW of Malaysian firms CNA Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (CNA) and PNA Technologies Sdn Bhd (PNA). Under the deal, GW will issue $731.50m new shares at $0.041 each to CNA and PNA as settlement for the deal. As Advance will be acquiring the entire paid up share capital of GW's subsidiaries, Tsing Yi Enterprises Ltd, Seah Metal Industries Pte Ltd and Tsingtech Recycling Pte Ltd, CNA and PNA are essentially acquiring a shell company, Ang noted. The reverse takeovers will inject new businesses into GW and allow it to list back on the stock exchange, Ang said. Trading in GW shares was suspended from June 19 this year. "What we have done is very timely. In fact, this creates value for us of $3.3m or depending on what the share price of Green World will be when it starts trading (again)," Ang said, adding that after the reverse takeover Advance will still hold a 10% strategic stake in GW. "After this exercise, we will be able to collect material from the automotive industry which we did not have earlier," Ang said. He added that the reverse takeover process may take five to nine months to be completed. Meanwhile, Advance chairman Terence Tea said the company is prepared to spend $20m over a three-year period to construct a copper refinery and manufacturing plant in order to complete its copper supply chain. "We think the building of this facility will take about a year. It will be completed by the end of next year," Tea said. |

Phillip Securities has increased its fair value for the stock to $0.53 because of the company's growth prospects. "While the fiscal year to June 2006 result is nothing to shout about, we see significant growth in fiscal year to June 2007, after the recently acquired Green World Holdings makes its full-year contribution," Phillip Securities analyst Chang Kok Keong said in a note to clients. The brokerage expects Advance SCT's recycling and distribution division to contribute more to earnings, with a new copper refinery expected to start operating at the end of this year. "The new 260,000-square-foot facility will more than double the existing capacity and should provide sufficient room for growth for the next few years, " Chang said. Phillip Securities expects Advance SCT's net profit to grow to $10.4m in the year to next June from $3.8m in the year to last June, and to $12.7m in the year to June 2008. |

It will complete its 100% acquisition of Green World by 26/8. Mgt will continue to grow its core PCB testing and finishing services, while developing the new growth driver - the recycling business. Its new 260,000 sq. ft. plant in Kranji is completed and would boost recycling capabilities. It has managed to extend its recycling services beyond ferrous metal and e-waste. It has gone into the semicon waste recycling space. It entered into a JV with ASTI to provide recycling services for ASTI and its customers in Asia. By establishing more waste collection points in various industries across the region, its recycling business is expected to grow significantly. Advance SCT and Green World have entered into agreement to acquire CNA Venture and PNA Holding. Both are tier 1 suppliers to Naza Automotive Mfg in Malaysia. It is expected to be completed by end FY07 and would boost Adv SCT's NTA from 11.9 cents to 15.2 cents. It has decided not to go ahead with the acquisition of FC Copper. FY(Jun)06 net profit is expected to be dragged down by professional fees relating to the deal and higher finance costs relating to its convertible loan. DMG has a price target of $0.60. |
