Too early to do anything at current bouyant market, hold the horse first. You still got time to decide when day close to XD. Likewise for other stocks, which given out 2 digits dividends. Cheers. | ||||

Sorry for the late reply... Personally, 4.10 is the best price ... as one can see... SPH does not move as the market rally ... however... the price hold steadily ... as it is the steady stock for old man to hold ... and no one wants to sell in a panic... Buy SPH is just like buying a FD ... one can see that SPH has less room to grow... and their property investment has already priced into the value... By the way, with the surge in oil price... its paper cost and operating cost may be affected.. However, old men have money to put into this stocks for their long term investment with a good dividend at about 20+ cents .. Under current market .. Venture offers a dividend of 50 cents ... which one can get it at S$10 is a good deal ... unless Venture suffered hugh profit erosion ... |

SPH is Singapore Pension House... the kind of investors attracted to it are people already in their late 60s or more. Such investors main concern is protection of principal invested. They would be happy to collect yearly dividends that are little better than bank deposits. So don't expect it to move much from its current price. |

This elephant is good if one had collect it cheap and one can hold for long term to collect dividend...... However, its capital gain is very minimal... as SPH is operating under a so called talent intensive business......... with limited readers ........ SPH makes advertisement money..... and collect rental .... from its war chests of investment and properties development... SPH goes into internet business recently... which is considered to be technology intensive .. which face the risk of the advent of new technology... and this can be costly..... One can see the price changes between 4.10 to 4.70 .. so the fair value is 4.30 by taking into dividend distribution yearly at around 20+ cents ... | ||||

This elephant is hardly moving in spite so many positive commentaries from reports writers. February is fast approaching its end and , most probably, the first 1/2 yearly results will be posted end of March/08. Judging from its very much improved AR and also the first contribution from Sky Eleven, the reduction in cost of the print, there might be an extra windfall as had been predicted since December/06. Most of the financial reporters are predicting a price of more than $5 for this clumsy elephant. For the past three years the interim dividend is always around 7 cents. Hope this coming interim will be different. |
