These kind of predictions and reports occur on an almost weekly if not daily basis, sometimes can change overnight by the same analyst. It's good to have a longer term view when dealing with investments.

Mermaid Maritime (DU4.SG) down 1.1% at $0.460 after it says U.S.-based charterer of MTR-1 tender rig has ceased accommodation barge contract (supposed to run to at least end-January 2011). Though very thin volume suggests selling pressure light, likely as contract (won in July) worth just US$3.2 million ($4.12 million), also as cessation no fault of Mermaid, company expects positive outcome from ongoing settlement talks. CIMB, which keeps stock at Outperform, lowers target price to $0.52 from $0.57, erases all contributions from MTR-1, also refines MTR-2 assumptions, shaves FY10-12 earnings estimates by 2%-28%. Notes target still based on 10X CY12 P/E (20% discount to 5-year peer average on poorer earnings visibility). “We continue to see value in its assets and believe the upturn in the subsea market can pick up the slack in drilling. We see catalysts from further asset acquisitions and higher-than-expected subsea utilisation.” Order book tips $0.455 likely floor for day. |

Today's rise is on pure speculation. As mentioned by Bon3260 if the coming results are good or if they win some contracts then share price may rise otherwise it will hover around 45 cents.Many burned their hands in this counter. So please ignore pharoah88 buy call.

Asia Offshore Drilling limited (AOD) - Mermaid led joint venture. Mermaid will seek other investors to join them in AOD to raise funds for the first two jack up rigs. The rig order is letter of intent only (not a confirmed order). They have unused cash from last year rights issue.
