Dun blame him, he drnk too much china milk so kinda affect certain part of his brain... Anyway its postings shows that it doesnt have much practical trading expereince or even it have some years of exp as he claims. it still stuck at lower level or traders. It tries to show its knows alot and trades alot but alot of things it posted shows that it only paper trade alot. Experienced traders like me will know when it's posting on it's trades cause we dun trade like 'it'.

I understand your point of view. i agree too that it hard to have however chaotic time come out heroes (chinese terms). haha. but i will try to show you how i do it and hope i can do it by 2012-2015. 3 stocks that make 100k to 1 million by just holding. If lose also lose my current paper profit from this 3 stocks i brought last friday. These 3 stocks i holding are based on FA, logic and TA for timing. Many ppl are cursing and swearing but those that are cash rich are laughing like no tomorrow.
1 million is possible if you have the skill, courage and luck.

Cheers! To share one thing. So far most of my friends don't share my belief in margin. It is a pity. I also never believe certain gains are possible until I did it. To tell you the truth I came upon margin by accident. One fine day, my broker asked me why don't I convert my account to margin. I did not even know what that is. He just explained to me and before I knew it I just converted my account to margin. It was like more for convenience and I disliked writing cheque all the time to make payment or go ATM. Maybe I am fortunate my style is more averaging up and I am wlling to cut loss so though I got no guidance on the right way to use in margin, I gradually managed to work out a strategy. But at the end of the day I can understand not everything is suitable for everybody. We are all different so unfortunately tha'ts why there are winners and losers. We cannot be all the same. That's life........

A trend is a trend, whether it is uptrend or downtrend... And trend is the market player's best friend. Thus if margin is still an an available service, why not make good use of it at all times... And if the new economic order will even make margining a banned activity, then that will be sad and bad...

Haha Now they say timing. Well I disagree on the part asia can double. and USA is expensive. I will say half correct half wrong. Asia = potential to more than double as we have China and India to boost it in mid to long term. This is based on logic and FA. USA = certain industry will recover and can gain more than 2times maybe even ten times. This is based on history and logic and FA. Yeah, for ASia, I actually prefer to trade HK stocks and HSI than STI or singapore stocks. Take a closer looks on the Hong Kong stocks and HSI u will know why. Alot of singaporeans are not looking outside Singapore enough.
SIngapore not much derivates and tools to use. Boh bian cause in singapore, only Warrents,CFD and Margin available. Warrents = 5 times leverage but manipulated. good thing is no need to pay interest for levearge. AnywayI NEVER encourage people to CONTRA warrent nor use MArgined or STOCKS loan money to but it. Imagine this one guy with 5k capital, go and contra 20k warrents. it means 20k X 5 = 100k speculation. just a small movment against his direction, his 5k = gone and any more movement = this guy wil be in deep shit. NEVER EVER HANDLE WHAT YOU CANNOT HANDLE. 99% CHANCE IT WILL TURN AND HANDLE YOU INSTEAD. just ask yourself, will you drive a car if you cannot drive car? Than ask yourself again, why is so many ppl still driving the "CARS" and got into accident (which are confirmed to happen for ppl who cant drive)? Margin = i have outgrown it for it is expensive and high cost and leverage is too small for my liking, in fact i think CFD slighty better for lower cost and slightly higher leverage but still dun like the interest incurred and low leverage. for more advanced trader like me who can handle leverage, 2-5 is too low. I wont recommend normal ppl to trade abv 3-5 times leverage coz most cant handle it and DO NOT HAVE THE SKILL to handle even 3-5 times leverage. Some will post and say they make alot last 2 years leveraging. I will say in BULL MARKET EVERYONE MAKE MONEY, NOT REALLY BECAUSE OF SKILL. Livermore, u are a nice guy. suggest you look further for more choice and opportunities. your "Futures" are bright if you know what to do. lol

In my view, just don't use margin in a downtrending market. | ||||

Use margin lending on an uptrending mkt and not on a down trending mkt. Cos margin is something u borrow to buy and u thus anticipate a capital gain. Oni use margin to buy on downtrending mkt if one feels that the dividend payout can cover some of the interest expense and in the long term, the capital gain far,far outweigh the risk of holding. In other words, anticipating a huge capital gain in long term. |

This is from the Business Times today : Time your entry into markets 'The US market is the most expensive right now . . . and Asia is screamingly cheap. Asia can double, it's a question of timing.' And how about China Stock listed in HK to consider? |

If you have X capital and your full buy limit is 3X, maybe go for 2/3X i.e For xample if you have $10k and your buy limit is $10 x 3 = $30k, maybe just buy up $20k on first leverage (base on the averaging up method I illustrated below) i.e in this case your borrowing is $10k. If you are new to it, just go a bit less. The only time it is ok to go full leverage or buy up to maximum buy limit is when all your stocks are way ahead in paper profit. Even if you get a margin call and forced to sell your shares, you just sell off your shares at a profit not at a loss. |

just to highlight 2 things: 1) i recommended 3 stocks to buy cause i can only monitor 3 counters myself (max) 2) thou i see the point livermore is talking but that will apply more to singapore. to me margin is not worth it for you pay interest for the loan plus admin fee n brokerage fee for just 3-5 times leverage. this is the problem for singapore, they only have margin/cfd for singapore stocks. hence i dun like to trade singapore counters. |

my personal advice from experience. for those who like to trade live, never trade more than 5 counters. in fact 3 is more than most ppl can handle. in fact that is the reason i like to trade forex and e-mini. i only monitor less than 5 pairs thou i enter only not more than 3 orders at any time (usually 1 or 2). e-mini lagi best, u watch only the index....

Just be careful if you are the sort who likes to buy many stocks when in margin. You will easily lose control |
