1.73 is just a trap from capland ....they ll prepare to buy in higher than this price knowing that many won't sell based on their sounded fundamental .....or have future plans ahead. Alternatively, many fools will rush in to buy thinking that capland is a good company with no kelong ...... then u may see the company unloads some to u all at a higher premium than 1.73 , then buy in later when the price softens .....big fish eats small fish strategy ........ |

0233 GMT [Dow Jones] CapitaLand''s (C31.SG) move to take serviced residence arm Ascott Group (A07.SG) private may be part of developer''s bid to boost its own organic earnings growth, says OCBC Investment Research analyst Winston Liew. Notes unit is important contributor to developer''s organic earnings, based on CapitaLand''s 3Q07 profit of S$34 million (excluding exceptional items), of which Ascott Group contributed S$23 million. Based on the trading price of CapitaLand ($6), and the $23million profit from Ascott, it has good chance that Ascott price will be higher after the trading halt. This is what I think. |

For the sake of the minorities, AG's 'independant' directors will appoint a consultant to give an 'independant' assessment of the offer. Consultant's fees will of course be paid by AG. So, I think the report is unlikely to be totally unbiased. |

Very interesting. From the way it is going to play out, do not think the price will fall below 1.73 after the halt is lifted. Doesn't make sense for them to allow investors to buy the stock below 1.73. Most likely will not accept the offer as I believe there is more underlying value. Has have to be a reason for privatising. Aim for higher target price. |

I think the fact that they hold about 66%, the wishful thinking is tt the other shareholders will stand as one to reject the offer. They are aiming for a delisting, which req 90%. For me, will wait for the letter from them, and perhaps we can take it from there.... Meanwhile, we will monitor the lifting of the halt and trade. Price done hereon will be the signal. Afterall, min is $1.73 right? If you put up resistance, it may go up. Any other comments? |

Fairygal, If you accept the offer, no brokerage cost involved.....you get 1.73. If they don't secure 90% or more, they cannot delist (I think). Limpp, The process of the GO may take awhile...so, it may be a few months before you see your $$$. Some ppl may want to realise their cash quick and will sell in the open mkt at a slightly lower price. However, if the mkt feels that the price is too low (aka Chuan Hup), they may push the price above the offer price. Lets see how it goes. |

Thanks shplayer, If that is the case, after the trading halt, people will not sell below 1.73 as they will wait for the offer and without even to pay for the brokerage. Am I right? If it is not delisted, than the price will go up I guess as capitaland is holding most of the shares and capitaland is trading at more than $6. It is no doubt good news to shareholders. |

So the minimum you get is $1.73? Is there any other possible outcome or scenario in this case since they already hold 66%? Not so fair to those who hold the share before price was hammered downwards, ie those bot above offer price. Is the $1.73 the net price? Is brokerage or any other cost applicable? |

limpp, Offer is unconditional. So, anyone who throws in acceptance of offer will get their 1.73. If they secure more than 90%, they can apply for delisting, pay those who did not accept their offer at 1.73 and take their shares. Probably will lift TH after lunch or tomo. |

If we do not sell our shares through open market, are we confirm the offer price of $1.73 per share? |

Price is fair. But, I still believe they pushed the price down to current levels (1.20).....just look at the big blocks of married deals on the way down. From the offer, it looks like they seriously intend to take it private. If the price was not pushed down, their offer would have had to be in the region of 2.50 to get minorities to bite. |

offer letter will reach you not earlier than 14days from date of announcement and no later than 21days from date of announcement. Price looks fair in the current market sentiment but long term wise they gut a bargain price for all the ascott group shares imho |

Fairygal... :) You are so very spot on right that the stock market is not as simple as Fundamentals or Bull or Bear market, but also Shark Market... Thus, life is not so simple... hehehe... ("The Genie Tutorials" (click to see) will truly stand one in good stead in life if one is to continue 'dabbling' in the stock market on a long-term basis) |
