Hi Hulumas - Hope everybody who recently bought shares to sail on Starcruise will be blessed as it merrily chugs along should it win the IR bid. Hope it will not capsize and drown all its investors (not enough lifebuoys on board to save the many thousand investors on board) if it does not win. Anybody has an inkling of whither the wind blows? |

Guess your info is reliable? If it's correct, then Starcruise and Genting should fly on Monday if Genting & Starcruise JV is the winner. Prior to the previous announcement, Capitaland was played all the way up even on the day of the announcement (i.e. before 5pm). That's no play up on Starcruise for the past few days. |

Agree with Hulumas that Starcruise price will propel upwards if Genting & Starcruise JV is the project winner. Otherwise, it will stay firm coz' Starcruise vessels can take the well-heeled to the IR Sentosa resort, which bodes well for its profit growth. Based on the low trading volumes for this share, it seems investors are reluctant to take position and are waiting with bated breath for the announcement. The previous announcement of the Marina winner was made on a Friday. Will the the announcement of the Sentosa winner again be made on be a Friday, that is Friday 8 December (the date predicted by the media) or 15 December 2006? |

SCL had in the past raised funds through rights issues to fund its purchase of new vessels. With SCL's 25% confirmed participation in the 2nd IR tender and the ongoing rights issue to fund the purchase of two new vessels, Moody's assertion needs to be changed in the light of the latest developments, esp if its JV with Genting wins the 2nd IR tender. Any take on this matter from other forum participants? |

Starcrus has been sleeping since January 2005. Shd become burning hot soon after 10 October 2006. Traders (or contra players) are all waiting by the sidelines to ramp it up nearer announcement of successful second IR after 10 Octrober which may be sooner than u can think. In the present cash-strapped mkt, driven up or down by contra rotational play (evident in that though price is low, there are few takers) hop on it real soon before the hop becomes a scramble and u are left behind as it "powers" away . |

Moody's Investors Service said it has downgraded the corporate family rating of Star Cruises Ltd (SCL) to "B1" from "Ba3" following the company's announcement it has entered into shipbuilding contracts ordering the construction of 2 new vessels with an option for a 3rd by August 2007. The rating outlook remains negative, Moody's said. It said Star Cruises' stand-alone liquidity is expected to weaken as a result of the purchase of the new vessels. "SCL may have to rely on additional bank borrowings and asset disposals to partly fund the acquisition," Moody's said. "The ratings outlook remains negative, reflecting Moody's concerns that SCL's financial metrics may remain under pressure, " it said. |

Standard & Poor's said it has placed the "BB" corporate credit rating for Star Cruises and unit NCL Corp on CreditWatch negative because of concern about increased financial risks from its acquisition of vessels. "The placement on CreditWatch negative reflects our concerns over the aggressive and further weakening in the financial risk profile resulting from the proposed acquisition of two new vessels by NCL," S&P credit analyst Greg Pau said in a statement. NCL has placed orders for 2 new cruise ships worth E735m each for delivery in the second quarter of 2010. NCL has an option to buy a 3rd ship of similar size for E700m. The acquisition will be financed largely through debt. "At the group level, the acquisitions are expected to increase Star Cruises' financial risk," S&P said. "The newly announced acquisitions will delay such improvement by at least 3 years. Star Cruises' financial profile could weaken further and its credit rating will be under further downward pressure if NCL exercises its option to buy the 3rd ship and uses substantial debt to finance the purchase," S&P said. It said that the present "BB" ratings for Star Cruises and NCL Corp were based on the assumption of debt reduction and steady improvement in their financial measures. |
