1HFY08 net profit of $8.1m (+299% yoy) is within consensus and our annualised estimates, aided by better-than-expected gross margins from more recent construction contracts, and cost benefits from its in-house structural steel fabrication, construction equipment and scaffolding equipment. Gross margins rose to 15.6% in 1HFY08 from 4.7% in 2HFY07 and 6.3% a year ago. 1HFY08 net profit forms 44% of CIMB's previous full-year estimate. The construction division continued to be the linchpin for LBG, contributing more than 90% to its revenue, with the remaining 10% coming fromengineering and leasing, and property development. Operating expenses (+38.9% yoy)grew at a slower rate due to modest increases in distribution expenses and financecosts. LBG has a comfortable net gearing of about 20%, vs. 5.6% six months ago. Order book of $608m. LBG's order book comprises recent contracts that command better margins due to strong demand for construction and a shortage of BCA A1 contractors. Additional upside could come from development profits from LBG's strategic stakes in a number of prestigious residential property projects. With the excellent outlook for the construction sector in the next few years, LBG remains selective and will only pitch for projects with good margins. In Dec 07, CIMB wrote that LBG stands a better than-average chance of clinching a casino tower and museum package, worth at least $500m, at the Marina Bay Sands IR. They maintain this view and have factored the potential impact into their forecasts. CIMB have raised their margin assumptions, buoyed by the continued strength in all its business segments. Their net profit forecasts have been lifted by 3-26% for FY08-10. They are also rolling forward their valuation to CY09 on an unchanged 15x P/E basis for the construction business and incorporating RNAV for its growing property-development business. This translates to a new sum-of-the-parts target price of $1.67 (previously $1.14, on 15x CY08 P/E). |

i remembered clearly during the X'mas period to the first wk of trading where lots of stocks plunge...Lian Beng strives...was strong....however now...it can't tahan the market sentiment already...broke support...plunging downwards with the rest |

$0.78 is an imporant level since it was a resistance level on 2 occasions and now it is likely to turn support. Gotta see whether this support level will hold. Some technical indicators are showing bearish divergence though. U can check out the chart here @ my blog. |

It's good .. Sentiment for construction sector is strong despite DJIA's very poor closing. Saw yongnam, CSC, koh bros, Lian Beng in top movers section. If got balls, can try to buy and hold in. |
