Bollinger bands on this counter are extremely tight. Large price change may occur soon. Direction of change is not very clear. |

So SMRT is now appealing to the authority for the fare hike which previously was turned down; reason-they made too much $$ liao! |

I read an article a few years ago regarding the defending of Tokyo from enemy(China) during war time. Within, there's a detail description regarding these complex deep underground tunnels interlink each other together which are unknown even to the Japanese public. Important infrastructure and command post are all located within and storage of dry foods and essential items which can last a few years for survivors without having to resurface. There's this air ventilation with filters that link up to the surface to ensure a steady supply of clean air even during biological and nuclear attack......With such important facilities, how can the garment leave it to the general public unattended? I'm not saying Sg has got all these but who knows they're not trying to build it right now? He!He! He! |

Unloaded all my holding in the morning at 1.75 & 1.76, missed that 1.77. Then tempted to get in again at $1.73. What do you think, Kilroy bro? |

Isn't it understood that in the event crisis, all privately own asset had to be surrendered to assist in rescue work? 1986 Hotel New World collasped, the privately own coffeeshops ard the vicinity were used as command posts for the rescue team. I think in the law, freehold properties are still subject to government taking back if there is a need. Well in the event of the merger, MRT stations and tracks are still owned by the garment. SMRT are just running their business on their land. There will not be argument that in the event of crisis, the station will only be used by SMRT shareholders to hide from attacked of bombs. Why Temasek stopped parring down their stake since 2006, there's more than meets the eyes. I think they might want to hold up bigger shares in the tortoise who is doing well globally. As I had mentioned in my previous posting, I will calculate the "intrinsic value" of SMRT. Here is my finding. Based on the records of their cash flow from Operation and Earning Per Share for the last 5 years, I have projected that they will grow their CashFlow by as much as 24% and EPS of 9 cents as of 2007 will grow 18% for the next 10 years. This result in my calculation of $2.34 and $1.81 respectively. Averaging this 2 figures, I am estimating SMRT's "Fair Value" to be around $1.95-$2.00 per share. More often than not, share price will not trade to fair value. Knocking it off by 10%-15%, It's fair for SMRT to trade between $1.65-$1.80. So I conclude that SMRT is currently trading at "fair value" to its Intrinsic Value. If there is no merger between SMRT & ComfortDelgro, SMRT is not a good investment as it's fully valued and its upside is capped at $1.95. Anyone can comment and discuss this? |

Idesa168, I wish I can share more info but I'm not the garment and Temptemp. Moreover, this merger story may not materialize. My comments are summarize from past /recent articles and news that I've read. Its not difficult to guess what they intend to take private consider the fact if there's an attack or prolong crisis....where to hide for the top 1% of population and store critical rations? Where will be the best command center to launch a counter attack? |

Farmer, I wish to understand a few things from your comment on the garment taking away some entities from the merger. Can you be more specific like what the garment will take away in the event of merger? Will that reduce the NAV if merged. And also where can I read about this which you siad you read it somewhere? On the analysis part of the garment's move lately, why do you think the Temptemp had stopped paring down their stake in SMRT? |

Saw 176 today but did not let go! I am betting that the share price which crossed over MA30 line in the afternoon, will have good chance of pushing higher in the days ahead. Hope I am not wrong. |

Let's continue to share / benefit each other in this forum. Cheers! What has stop Temasek from paring down SMRT's stake since Nov 06? Looking at current trading range, M/A price could be between $1.60 - 1.80 ~ 4.0 - 4.5X it's NAV. Just guessing only. |

I read that merger may not materialize unless the garment step in to make it happen. As such, the garment may have to take certain part of the merger entity private due to its core infrastructure which is important to our national security. When is the last time Temasek sold down its SMRT stake? |

Whether merge or not, I think it is worth investigating into its intrinsic value (before merge) which I will post here for all to comment and discuss. I have invested in this counter 2 years back when the stock price was $1.12. Then I liqudated half of my holding at $1.50 just before the merger announcment which I saw my profit flying away, #$%^&*!! Fortunately I held the other half which is just a few pathetic lots. |

Found this piece of old news from Dow Jones dated: 29/8/07... DJ MARKET TALK: ComfortDelGro, SMRT Merger Likely - ABN-AMRO 0105 GMT [Dow Jones] Merger-of-equals between ComfortDelGro (C52.SG) and SMRT (S53.SG) is "increasingly likely" by end-year, according to ABN-AMRO. Raises ComfortDelgro target price to S$2.52 from S$2.25 on potential deal; keeps at Buy. Estimates merger could yield cash benefit of 15.1 cents per ComfortDelGro share. Says Singapore population growth will lead to an increase in ridership; suggests growth in China and Australia also key growth drivers. ComfortDelGro opens up 1.0% at S$1.95, SMRT opens up 1.2% at S$1.72.
